Where has this band been and why haven't I taken the time to check them out? I really don't know. U.K. disco shoegazers Friendly Fires are super hot. They kind of remind me of The Rapture, but with something more inventive...
In The Hospital is a dancing, clapping, bongo hittin' track that is just waiting to be blasted super loud on yet another hot summer day! This is a must download
In The Hospital (Download)

I'm feeling this indie vibe today, so i'll keep it going with Lovers Electric.
I really enjoy In Love, its a cute indie-pop track with very breathy vocals...a perfect track for the upcoming end of summer! This track will make you remember how you felt when you were in love for the very first time...

Fan Death reminds me of Glass Candy and Siouxsie (of the Banshees) and just jammin' in the studio. This track is a disco stomper, and sounds perfectly un-polished. It's made its way across the biggest and best of the blog's, so if you have already heard it...dim the lights and listen again!
Enjoy!

I've always been somewhat of a fan of Shiny Toy Guns. I'm not too sure how I feel about new track Ricochet. It's a bit angsty, and doesn't sound like much of a progression from their older material. Of course, opinions are never set in stone...i'll have to give this a few more spins.
This track is the lead single off of new album Season Of Poison.
Most importantly, I want to know what YOU guy think!

Remember that song that was everywhere? Yeah, you know the one...you just couldn't possibly handle hearing it One More Time, could you?

There is no question that this track should have been included on Sam Sparro's debut. Instead, he's left an amazing track to sit as the b-side for new single 21st Century Life. Pretty damn clever. =)

I have to say, Solange (or the people around her) is really stepping up the creativity compared to current pop songs and videos. I was hesitant to even listen to anything by her, but i've been pleasantly surprised so far.
Here is her newest video, for a track called Sandcastle Disco. Since its Saturday, i'm off to the beach. Hopefully you can make it there, and if not...

Here she comes, all the way from Iceland...Emiliana Torrini. She's got such a pretty voice, I really enjoy her new single, Me and Armini. The album of the same name drops in September.

Sarah McLachlan has such a beautiful voice and i've always loved her writing. She's back with a Greatest Hits album on October 7th called 'Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan'.
Sarah has recorded two new songs to be included in the package, called U Want Me 2 and Dont Give Up On Us ...and we've got one for you tonight!
U Want Me 2 is a typical sounding Sarah track, nothing too special but worth a post!

So last night we went down to deepest Brooklyn to see Ms. Jill Scott do her thing and she certainly did not disappoint.
Not only does she have an amazing voice and stage presence, but she is also HILARIOUS she was up there making vibrator jokes, and jokes about being married too long which got the crowd roaring with laughter, but it wasn't all humor, true to form she talked a lot about self respect and also lamented the loss of real music.
She proclaimed that 'old music' is now 1998 and talked about how greats like Marvin Gaye are all but forgotten, as well as newer artists like herself trying to make real music. I maybe be all of 24 but I agree with her 100%, all to often great music is overlooked by the mainstream such as songs by her, Angie Stone and to a lesser extent Erykah Badu. *Steps off soapbox*
The highlights of the show for me were: a Long Walk which everyone jammed to, Insomnia,The Real Thing, Crown Royale and Way. All in all it was a brilliant night and I'm now going revisit all my Jill Scott albums :D

So this has been bugging us for some time now! We want some Madonna 'Give It To Me' glasses. You know those black framed glasses from the 80's. We have no idea where everyone is buying them in London and NYC?
Answers in the comments please!
I don't know about you guys, but this seems very random to us! Alicia Keys joined Coldplay on stage for Clocks at Summer Sonic in Japan, the results is really great, we'd have loved it if she's sung along though. We love it when talented musicians get together for cool things like this!
The lovely Chicago Madonnarama DJ Riley York has jut posted a video edit of Madonna's Miles Away which we enjoy :D The original performance footage is from the BBC Radio One Big Weekend that Madonna played in Maidstone a few months ago.
Check out the newly released video for Kylie's 'The One' which is one of our favorites from the album, it's a shame it didn't get something Epic, but it's still quite pretty ;)

There are many interesting facts behind Madonna's track Dont Tell Me.
It was written by Joe Henry, Madonna's brother in law. Wife Melanie Ciccone (Madonna's sister) and Henry have collaborated with Madonna on three other tracks in her career, including Sweet Relief II's, Guilt By Association, Hard Candy's Devil Wouldn't Recognize You and Confessions On A Dancefloor's Jump.

It's a big day for Madonna news, here is the "final" setlist for Madonna's 'Sticky and Sweet Tour'.
Don't look if you dont want to ruin the surprise!
The show features four main section. The show opener, Candy Shop, has now a longer intro compared to the promo tour version. A musical intro a la Drowned World Tour, with bits and pieces of song form Hard Candy that we will be hearing later in the show fades into the "C-A-N-D-Y" intro from the promo tour.
The clock ticking theme from 4 minutes can be heard several times during the show. In the show intro, in Vogue and in the "Get Stupid" interlude, which reminds of the Confessions Tour's Sorry Video interlude. In Get Stupid there are samples of Give It 2 Me, 4 Minutes and Beat Goes On and it's about our chance to save our planet from the various damages we created.
The use of music samples is very big on this tour. Many of the classic hits are musically re-arranged as mash-ups and the songs are sung on musical tracks heavely sample-ing other dance songs. Like A Prayer, for example, which, as previously reported by M-Tribe, has entered the set list is now replacing Impressive Instant and it's delivered using musical parts of the 1992 dance hit by Felix "Don't You Want Me".
Into The Groove, that contains a small sample of Madonna's Jump, is also delivered using musical parts of another dance song "Toop Toop" by Cassius, while Borderline is a great "rocky/ska" re-invention of the classic 1983 ballad.
The first video interlude, a fast and speeded up version of the James Bond theme Die Another Day, features exclusive new footage of Madonna as a boxeur, from the brand new photoshoot by Tom Munro for the Tour Book.
The second video interlude mashes up Madonna's Rain with the Eurythmics' Here Comes The Rain Again, using their original version and leading to Devil Wouldn't Recognize You. Originally supposed to play the piano herself on this song, Madonna will now be placed on the piano, reminessing a bit the Sooner Or Later performance from Blond Ambition.

Most people are lucky to work with Madonna once. Costume designer Arianne Phillips has lasted 11 years, from the singer’s Pre-Raphaelite look for “Ray of Light” to the urban cowgirl of “Music” to the Patty Hearst look of “American Life” and on and on and on. In other words, measured in Madonna time, Phillips is roughly 77 years old.
Still, La Ciccone’s upcoming “Sticky and Sweet” tour has had its own unique challenges for her longtime stylist. “Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June,” says Phillips. “This time, the tour begins in August. It’s a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves.”
Thankfully, everyone is a bit of an exaggeration, as Phillips goes on to detail a mile-long list of willing collaborators and everything they’ve designed for the trek, which begins Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and comes to the Unit
ed States in early October. Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits, while Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott.
Like her shows in the past, this tour will be divided into four sections. The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy costumes. This, it would seem, is Madonna’s current take on her longest-running fashion inspiration — the dominatrix. “It’s a theme that runs through
out her career” Phillips says. “She’s not afraid of being hard.” The second section has been termed “Old School,” and harkens back to Madonna’s early days in New York, with Scott’s outfit and some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. “He and Madonna were friends. If her were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, ‘What if we revisited that?’” Afterward, there’s a gypsy section with more costumes from Givenchy. “Riccardo’s a new young talent. If you look at Madonna’s history with fashion, that makes him an obvious choice.” Finally, there’s a futuristic rave section with lots of Japanese influences.
And while The New York Times complained recently about Madonna’s style choices, Phillips says getting older has had little effect on her sense of fashion adventure. “She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age.” As Phillips adds seconds later, “She looks good in everything.”

So, what do you think? Personally i'm loving the first two outfits...not sure how I feel about the last one...it reminds me of Like a Prayer. You never know whats going to happen when that coat gets thrown off though! We are very excited!
We talked about this happening last week, for those that didn't see it here it is. Annie and Sam Sparro singing 'Black and Gold' on the Transmission show. We rather like this pairing and this version of 'Black and Gold' and the little 'Heartbeat' ending is cool
WE WANT MORE!!

So Keane are releasing a new album on October 13th called 'Perfect Symmetry' and judging by the picture above it seems they have a thing for shapes ;)
They have offered up one of the tracks 'Spiraling' for download for a limited time only and we offer it you below!
We love that they appear to have gone in a different direction with this one, its more upbeat and less depressing, kind of 80's in feeling a bit Human League (wow we're really feeling that comparison today aren't we?) but have a listen you'll hear it ;)

These crazy kids have been getting quite a lot of blog attention recently and for good reason :D you can hear their first single 'Perfect Girl's due to be released on August 25th by going to their MySpace its damn catchy! Very 80's and with a touch of the Human League and Depeche Mode you can't really go wrong can ya?
We enjoy this cover version of the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams :)

So apparently this unreleased track from Kylie 'Stay This way' was recorded in the Impossible Princess Era. It's certainly interesting to hear Kylie doing a Jazz number, I actually think she pulls it of pretty well!

I know we run the risk of seeming like Erykah Badu.com here but this new ad from Tom Ford's White Patchouli fragrance that hits stores in Sepetember is too beautiful not to post! She's Gorgeous! Lets hope it smells good!

In celebration of Erykah Badu's concert tonight in Brooklyn, I wanted to post this treat that I only discovered last night unbelievably!. It's from the 2007 BET awards and Erykah sings one of my favorite Diana Ross songs 'Love Hangover' and injects it with a little Badu spice! Enjoy!!

Why Didn't they Use Cher??
So New York Magazine, decided to use Madonna as the poster child for their New Face discussion, and in the least subtle way ever. Personally, I don't think Madonna has had even half as much as work as is outlined on her face, I'd guess at some cheek filler and a little botox here and there.
I think the cover is outrageous really and was probably sparked by the comments her brother made about her 'having a face lift' im sure he's chuckling smugly to himself in a corner somewhere this morning.
What do you all think of this provocative cover?

Crystal Castles are pretty fun to listen to, especially if you are into the return of the 80's video game sound that seems to happen every few years. The band also shares their name with an Atari video game.
I'm sharing their newest single with you all, it's called 'Vanished'.

Oh dear, looks like the boys have got themselves all tied up in knots! =)
Filthy Dukes started out as DJ's and turned themselves into a band we quite enjoy. They are quite similar in style to the Presets. The band are playing a bunch of gigs in the UK over the coming months, and onSunday they will be at the Time Out On The Up festival in London, if you fancy a gander!
