TAYLOR DAYNE: My Heart Can't Change

Back with another new single Taylor Dayne has released My Heart Can't Change from her latest album Satisfied.  It's pretty good and has the feel of many of her late 80's and early 90's hits.  A slower soulful song in the true Taylor Dayne fashion.

TRACEY THORN: Grand Canyon (Dirty South Radio Mix)

Hooray for Tracey Thorn!  Remember the track Missing by Everything But The Girl? I certainly do!  Tracey was the lead singer of the Ben Watt-produced hit that travelled around the world.

Last year, Tracey returned to the scene with a brand new solo album called Out of The Woods. Today i'm sharing a remix of a single off that album, called Grand Canyon.  The remix was produce by Dirty South who make very great stuff for the dance floor.  Enjoy!

KISH MAUVE: Lose Control (Stockholm Syndrome Radio Mix)

Remember Kish Mauve? The U.K. based electro duo wrote 2 Hearts which was covered last year by Kylie Minogue.  The band is back with their debut single, Lose Control.  The remix package is great, including an amazing mix from Fred Falke which has circulated the blogs for the past month or so.

JANELLE MONAE: Many Moons (Video Premiere)

The Metropolis-born Janelle Monae has just premiered the video for her first single, Many Moons.  I'm a big fan of these 'short-film' music videos, where there is an actual storyline and not just a bunch of flashy shots of body parts for 3minutes. You know what I mean?  This video takes it back to the Michael Jackson days.  Remember when he used to premiere a video?

Anyway, I love this video. Check it out!

DRAGONETTE: Competition (The Whip Remix)

I'm excited to share this remix of Dragonette's hot track, Competition.  It's done by The Whip, one of my favorite bands since hearing their debut single Trash.  It's very choppy and slicey , which is hot when blasting in a huge room full of sweaty people! Check it out, I think The Whip do Dragonette justice...what do you think?  Personally I would have liked to hear a lot more of the song/lyrics and not just a few vocal snippets, the track is hot however!

Competition (The Whip Mix)

CHARO: Espana Cani (Twisted Dee's Brazilian Samba Remixes)

Here is Charo's latest track that is currently on the Billboard Dance Charts!  Charo only plays guitar on this track and although I wish she had a current track with vocals this will do just fine :)

HOLLYWOOD, MON AMOUR

Marc Collin, Nouvelle Vague's producer had a genius idea, put together an album of old 80's classic theme songs and reinvent them with some cool singers. The album 'Hollywood, Mon Amour' sounds like it turned out great, and is due out at the end of the month.

I'm loving Juliette Lewis singing 'This Is Not America' .Visit the Myspace to hear that and more of the tracks.

NNEKA: Heartbeat

One of my friends reminded me about this song 'Heartbeat' by Nneka last night, it's taken from the album 'No Longer At Ease' and I love it! It's a really good video also shot partly on location in Africa.

GIANT JR VS. EARTHA KITT: I Want To Be Evil (Video)

A few days ago we posted this track, which is a slick and sexy re-produced version of Eartha Kitt's I Want to Be Evil.  It's a hot track, very similar to the Junkie XL vs. Elvis from a few years ago. I could totally see it opening Sex & The City The Movie #2!

Here is a video for the track, featuring a doll gone nasty!

MARGARET CHO: I Am Cho A Woman

Here it is! The Killers have been working with one of my favorite producers, Stuart Price. He was the mastermind that re-invented Madonna's sound on Confessions On A Dancefloor and has remixed countless tracks to perfection!

Brandon Flowers and gang are back with Human, lead single off upcoming album Day & Age. It's a pretty solid track, nice and catchy... you can clearly tell that it was produced by Stuart (his sound hasn't evolved very much through the years, unfortunately). Check it out and let me know what you think!

GEORGE MICHAEL: Arrested In a Public Bathroom (Again)

You'd think that George Michael would have learned his lesson the first time he was arrested in a public restroom. He was cuffed-up again, this time for a short stint at the North London Police Station on drug posession charges. Poor George, you'd think he'd learn to do the naughty stuff in his own bathroom! MADONNA: Get Stupid (Sticky & Sweet Tour Video)

Holy Madonna! She's coming at us, and she's checked her list twice!

Check out a very sexy yet stern speaking Madonna, in a new video that plays during an interlude on her current Sticky & Sweet Tour. It's a politically charged clip compilation, that has already been challenged by McCain. What do you think about Madonna using her tour as a venue for this kind of political material?

The high quality audience-free video is available on her official website. If you want to see it in its full dramatic glory with annoying screams all, view this video taken live from Rome!

PINK: Could've Had Everything

I've never been a fan of Pink beyond enjoying the occasional song on the radio, however I really enjoyed the video for So What, Pink's new release from upcoming album Funhouse. Today, I have the album cover for you tattoo's and feet and all! I also have the B-Side to So What, called Could've Had Everything. What do you think of Pink's latest effort? I think she's one of the better pop artists out there right now, and there aren't many!

SIA: Soon We'll Be Found (Video Premiere)

GIRLS ALOUD: The Promise

We finally have the new Girls Aloud yay! So the new single is called 'Promise', and it's really quite decent, not quite sure if is on par with 'Call the Shots' but time will tell. The girls never fail to please. This one sounds a bit 80's which we enjoy :D

KARDINAL OFFISHALL feat RIHANNA: Number 1 (Tide Is High)

Kardinal Offishall and Rihanna take us back to the beach this morning with Number 1 (Tide Is High). Yes, it samples the widely known hook that was originally written by The Paragons and then covered by one of my favorite bands ever: Blondie. The Blondie track, which is a reggae/ska style cover, reached #1 in the United States in 1980.

This track appears on Kardinal Offishall's recently released album Not 4 Sale. My question to you today is, does Rihanna do the track justice?

KANYE WEST: Love Lockdown + Arrested

Here is Kanye West's lead single Love Lockdown from upcoming album 808's and Heartbreaks which he performed at this years MTV Video Music Awards.

Kanye's a great producer and I think this track sounds original and fresh. Unfortunately, he's let his success go to his head (or maybe he's always been this way) and has acted like a big 'ol baby on numerous occasions. Just when you think he's getting better and learning how to deal with his anger, here he goes again, arrested at Los Angeles Interenational Airport...What do you think of both the single and Kanye's recent behavior?

DEBBIE HARRY: Painted by Andy Warhol

Like a Drug (X Tour Studio Version)

DARREN HAYES: Dress You Up

Well if you are a Darren Hayes fan, you'll know that he is a huge Madonna fan. He sang 'Dress You Up' last year for a New Years Event, and today he's sharing a studio version with us! Here's what he has to say about it...

"In 1985 the Her Madgesty released a song that made me want to dance, sing and get up and do my thing.

I recently performed a live version of it at my New Years Eve show last year and fulfilled a lifelong indulgent ambition.

In celebration of the Queen's show in London this week Justin Shave and I recorded a studio version based on an original tour demo floating around from the Reinvention Tour era that I believe was scrapped. My vocals pay homage to the way the Boy Toy adlibed them during the Virgin Tour"

THE ETTES: Look At Life Again (Album Review)

One part Nancy Sinatra/Shangri-Las-type vocals. One part distorted guitars. Add a driving beat, stir, and there you have it -- The Ettes are back with a new album full of garage rock grooves that will have you twisting in no time.

Released last month, Look At Life Again Soon picks up where 2006's Shake The Dust left off. Rather than going off and experimenting with unknown sounds or embracing new technology, the band continue their quest for the rock-n-roll holy grail. Recorded in London with producer Liam Watson at the helm, The Ettes (made up of lead singer Lindsay Hames, guitarist Jeremy Cohen and drummer Maria Silver) honed their talents by fusing a Spector-esque wall of sound with fuzzy, lo-fi guitars. The end result can go toe-to-toe with any of their contemporaries such as The Kills, The White Stripes and the Detroit Cobras.

The standout track is the last on the record. While not as upbeat as most of the other songs on life, the goth-country Where Your Loyalties Lie provides the listener with a sound reminiscent of post-punk roots music (think early gun club) underlined by an echoing, menacing guitar riff.

At just under half an hour, my only complaint is that the album is too short. However, what it lacks in length, it makes up for in timeless rock.

The Ettes will be playing two area shows later this month --
sat 9/13 - Williamsburg Music Hall
tue 9/16 - Mercury Lounge

I haven't had a chance to listen to The Faint's new album Fasciinatiion in it's entirety yet until this weekend. The track Forever Growing Centipedes stood out to me as an instant favorite, and i'd like to share it with you tonight.

It reminds me a bit of something that Trent Reznor could come up with, if he would let go of the angst already! Anyway, it's catchy and upbeat...exactly what I love from The Faint!
