Can you handle the packaging design for this single? I think i'm a fan! I'm also a huge fan of the track, it's by Australian duo Empire of the Sun. They have a poppy, catchy, summery sound...I wish I had this a few months ago, but here it is! Enjoy!

Marc Collin, Nouvelle Vague's producer had a genius idea, put together an album of old 80's classic theme songs and reinvent them with some cool singers. The album 'Hollywood, Mon Amour' sounds like it turned out great, and is due out at the end of the month.
I'm loving Juliette Lewis singing 'This Is Not America' .Visit the Myspace to hear that and more of the tracks.

Little Boots is back with her cover versions! Today she uploaded her version of MGMT's Time To Pretend. Look at the pretty lights LOL

So what do we all think of this then? Apparently we'll hear the new finished version of the song within days....

One of my friends reminded me about this song 'Heartbeat' by Nneka last night, it's taken from the album 'No Longer At Ease' and I love it! It's a really good video also shot partly on location in Africa.
If you haven't heard of Nneka, you must check her out, her previous album 'Victim of Truth' was proclaimed by one review to be as good as 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'

A few days ago we posted this track, which is a slick and sexy re-produced version of Eartha Kitt's I Want to Be Evil. It's a hot track, very similar to the Junkie XL vs. Elvis from a few years ago. I could totally see it opening Sex & The City The Movie #2!
I caught Dragonette the other night at the Mercury Lounge here in NYC. They are a great band, solid indie-electro-pop tracks that translate very well to the stage. Check them out performing Black Limousine off their recently released in United States album...Galore!
Here is Black Limousine...

Here it is! The Killers have been working with one of my favorite producers, Stuart Price. He was the mastermind that re-invented Madonna's sound on Confessions On A Dancefloor and has remixed countless tracks to perfection!
Brandon Flowers and gang are back with Human, lead single off upcoming album Day & Age. It's a pretty solid track, nice and catchy... you can clearly tell that it was produced by Stuart (his sound hasn't evolved very much through the years, unfortunately). Check it out and let me know what you think!

You'd think that George Michael would have learned his lesson the first time he was arrested in a public restroom. He was cuffed-up again, this time for a short stint at the North London Police Station on drug posession charges. Poor George, you'd think he'd learn to do the naughty stuff in his own bathroom! Read more here...

I'm taking you back, back, back a few decades to the late, late, late 70's. An American rock band, Toto released their very first single, Hold The Line which topped the charts at #5! Tonight I have the Ultrasound remix of the track for you, which is basically an extended version of the original. You can NEVER have enough Toto!
Hold The Line (Ultrasound Remix)

This track is a MUST download for dance music fans. It's been on all my favorite blogs this week, so just in case you haven't had the lucky chance to listen to this track, here you are! It features the wonderfully original vocals of Sia and is produced by NYC artist Lauren Flax. Check it out, let me know what you think!

I have a super-slick reproduced version of this classic by the cat-lady herself, Eartha Kitt. Do you want to be evil? I do...

Nikka Costa just premiered the new video for her first single from new album Pebble to a Pearl, Stuck To You. I've always been a huge fan of Nikka, ever since 'Everybody Got Their Something' and the sexy 'Like a Feather'. What do you think?

of Montreal was a recent discovery of mine, and i'm pretty excited to share them with you all. I guess I would compare them to The Rapture, maybe a bit poppier, and with a lot more instruments. Tonight, I shar with you the Mad Decent remix of the first single from upcoming album Skeletal Lamping; Id Engager. Tell me what you think!
Id Engager (Mad Decent Mix)

I didn't think that Mariah's summer-jam I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time was very dance/club remix-able. Designer Drugs, an amazing remix team has proven me wrong! This track is really great, a perfect club version of the original. Check it out and let me know what you think!
I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time (Designer Drugs Mix)

Let's take it back to the club with hot remixers Diamond Cut's remix of Delta Goodrem's latest single You Will Only Break My Heart. I love how Diamond Cut knows exactly which 80's synths to use to get me dancin'! If you missed it, we posted another Diamond Cut/Delta Goodrem remix awhile ago! Thanks to this blog for posting this track earlier!
You Will Only Break My Heart (Diamond Cut Mix)

Musiq Soulchild teams up with Mary J. Blige on If You Leave. I like this, a nice smooth jam. What do you think?

After 10 years on the air, MTV's Total Request Live has been axed and is expected to end in November. Are you sad to see it go or was it about time?

Holy Madonna! She's coming at us, and she's checked her list twice!
Check out a very sexy yet stern speaking Madonna, in a new video that plays during an interlude on her current Sticky & Sweet Tour. It's a politically charged clip compilation, that has already been challenged by McCain. What do you think about Madonna using her tour as a venue for this kind of political material?
The high quality audience-free video is available on her official website. If you want to see it in its full dramatic glory with annoying screams all, view this video taken live from Rome!

I've never been a fan of Pink beyond enjoying the occasional song on the radio, however I really enjoyed the video for So What, Pink's new release from upcoming album Funhouse. Today, I have the album cover for you tattoo's and feet and all! I also have the B-Side to So What, called Could've Had Everything. What do you think of Pink's latest effort? I think she's one of the better pop artists out there right now, and there aren't many!

Sia has just premiered a video for a new single from Some People Have Real Problems. It's called Soon We Will Be Found, and features Sia and co. doing sign language among very creative lighting and shadow techniques. She never fails to amaze me/give me a good laugh!
What do you think?

We finally have the new Girls Aloud yay! So the new single is called 'Promise', and it's really quite decent, not quite sure if is on par with 'Call the Shots' but time will tell. The girls never fail to please. This one sounds a bit 80's which we enjoy :D

Kardinal Offishall and Rihanna take us back to the beach this morning with Number 1 (Tide Is High). Yes, it samples the widely known hook that was originally written by The Paragons and then covered by one of my favorite bands ever: Blondie. The Blondie track, which is a reggae/ska style cover, reached #1 in the United States in 1980.
This track appears on Kardinal Offishall's recently released album Not 4 Sale. My question to you today is, does Rihanna do the track justice?

Our new favorites, Uh Huh Her have been causing quite a stir lately. They are about to embark on a new tour, and have already released a fantastic album and video!

Here is Kanye West's lead single Love Lockdown from upcoming album 808's and Heartbreaks which he performed at this years MTV Video Music Awards.
Kanye's a great producer and I think this track sounds original and fresh. Unfortunately, he's let his success go to his head (or maybe he's always been this way) and has acted like a big 'ol baby on numerous occasions. Just when you think he's getting better and learning how to deal with his anger, here he goes again, arrested at Los Angeles Interenational Airport...What do you think of both the single and Kanye's recent behavior?

I was sent this link yesterday. These are two of my favorite people! Andy Warhol paints Debbie Harry on an old Amiga computer in 1985!

Oddly enough, RCRD LBL is offering another free mp3 from the album called Crown Of Age on it's site. Enjoy and always tell us what you think!

This is a very very sweet version of Kylie Minogue's Like a Drug that was produced for The 2008 X Tour. I figured since there were so many Madonna studio versions this past week, we must spread around the love! Hot stuff!
Like a Drug (X Tour Studio Version)

Are you ready for this? MGMT will be collaborating with the Chemical Brothers on their new album. It's planned as a 2-disc set, one disc will be "pop" and another will be more "psychedelic and experiemental". Find out more here.

Erykah Badu's Honey won a VMA for best direction. I'm happy that it won as it's a great video one of the best i'd seen in a while and also a great song. I know you've all seen it but here's a reminder, and a remix of the song to boot!
Can you name the album cover references in the video? Answers in the comments please ;)

Debbie Harry & Fergie have collaborated on the song 'Call Me' for the Fashion Rocks event to be shown this Tuesday, we can't wait to see how that turned out. Debbie looks a bit younger with that hair, though this is a somewhat scary shot!
While we wait for video of that, Check out Debbie singing 'Call Me' with Shirley Manson of Garbage from a few years back...
Last night was the Stand Up To Cancer telecast and these lovely ladies sang 'Just Stand Up' live from Fashion Rocks.... the performance was quite good. Two comments: Leona outsang Mariah (tee hee hee) and Miley Cyrus annoys us LOL

One part Nancy Sinatra/Shangri-Las-type vocals. One part distorted guitars. Add a driving beat, stir, and there you have it -- The Ettes are back with a new album full of garage rock grooves that will have you twisting in no time.
Released last month, Look At Life Again Soon picks up where 2006's Shake The Dust left off. Rather than going off and experimenting with unknown sounds or embracing new technology, the band continue their quest for the rock-n-roll holy grail. Recorded in London with producer Liam Watson at the helm, The Ettes (made up of lead singer Lindsay Hames, guitarist Jeremy Cohen and drummer Maria Silver) honed their talents by fusing a Spector-esque wall of sound with fuzzy, lo-fi guitars. The end result can go toe-to-toe with any of their contemporaries such as The Kills, The White Stripes and the Detroit Cobras.
The standout track is the last on the record. While not as upbeat as most of the other songs on life, the goth-country Where Your Loyalties Lie provides the listener with a sound reminiscent of post-punk roots music (think early gun club) underlined by an echoing, menacing guitar riff.
At just under half an hour, my only complaint is that the album is too short. However, what it lacks in length, it makes up for in timeless rock.
The Ettes will be playing two area shows later this month --
sat 9/13 - Williamsburg Music Hall
tue 9/16 - Mercury Lounge

I haven't had a chance to listen to The Faint's new album Fasciinatiion in it's entirety yet until this weekend. The track Forever Growing Centipedes stood out to me as an instant favorite, and i'd like to share it with you tonight.
It reminds me a bit of something that Trent Reznor could come up with, if he would let go of the angst already! Anyway, it's catchy and upbeat...exactly what I love from The Faint!
