TINA TURNER: Acid Queen

Well its time for my Halloween treat! In celebration of the fact I'm seeing Tina Turner in concert on Sunday I'd like to share the fantastic track 'Acid Queen' and the video from the rock musical movie 'Tommy, based on the Who's album of the same name. This is the scene in which Tina, the Acid Queen tries to cure Tommy with drugs! Scary stuff indeed!

You Madonna fans may notice that Madonna swiped this look for 'Let It Will Be' on her Confessions promo tour (the backdrop video) and Music Inferno on the Confessions Tour ;)

MADONNA: Sticky & Sweet in Atlantic City

I have driven by this Madonna billboard for the Sticky & Sweet Tour several times on the Atlantic City Expressway and always tell myself that I am going to stop & take a picture of it. One day when I had my camera & was ready to, it had disappeared.  I regretted not getting the photo but the other day as I was driving into the city guess what returned? You got it!  The Madonna billboard! Luckily I had my camera with me! Madonna, my Beautiful Stranger had returned...

Here is a great mash-up of Beautiful Stranger vs. Bronski Beat's Smalltown Boy that I enjoy alot & hope that you do too!

MEL B: Who's Is It

Check out a Scott Storch produced track from Mel B's upcoming album, the unofficial title is Reimagined. The new album is said to be a mix of r&b/ pop tracks that will sound like a cross between Pink and Destiny's Child's material. This track is called Who's Is It, a release date has not been officially set.

GRACE JONES: William's Blood (Aeroplane Remix) + Jonathon Ross Interview

Well Grace Jones' Hurricane is officially out on November the 3rd! We highly suggest that you pick it up, it is an incredibly strong album. There are some nice island style songs on there, that sound like 1980's Grace and some more intense ones like Corporate Cannibal which you have to blast nice and loud!

She has started promotion including a new website, and below is funny interview she did with Jonathon Ross on Friday, somebody PLEASE tell me what on earth that accent is??

GIRLS ALOUD: The Loving Kind

Girls Aloud are about to release Out of Control, their new album of material since the pop-tastic Tangled Up! The album has leaked, and out of the lot, my favorite track is The Loving Kind. I think it's a great pop song, ready for a video, ready for remixes!

MADONNA: Drowned World Tour "Studio Mixes"

Here are the "Studio Mixes" from the Madonna Drowned World Tour... (I say that loosely as many are not the best quality, rumor is these were ripped from screens) We haven't seen these around in quite some time probably cause the tour ended forever ago & it's 2008. So I guess this is a flashback of sorts. This is just a bunch of stuff from over the years that may be of interest :) The best feature in this file is Madonna's live performance of You'll See from the DWT that took place in Madison Square Garden, New York.

If anyone has these files in better quality, please share them with your fellow fans! :)

BEYONCÉ: Single Ladies (Maurice Joshua Radio Mix)

The first of a set of remixes of Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) have surfaced. Completed by Maurice Joshua, his production sways in a Moto Blanco style, nothing too amazing or revolutionary but I wanted to share the radio edit with you all today nonetheless. The extended version of this remix has been circling the blog world since yesterday, just in case you were on the hunt for that as well.

LADY GAGA: Starstruck (feat. Flo-Rida) + Poker Face (Video Premiere)

I wasn't all that impressed with Lady Gaga's debut effort, I feel like she still hasn't found her sound/voice just yet. Sometimes she sounds like Christina Aguilera, sometimes like Gwen Stefani (solo and No Doubt)...I even recall a song that reminded me of a Spice Girls track...

For the U.S. release of her debut, The Fame, Gaga is including two brand new songs, Paper Gangsta & Starstruck featuring Flo-Rida. Starstruck is a hot collaboration between Gaga and 'Rida which shows the Lady progressing into her own sound.

In case you aren't already Gaga-ed out, here is the video for current single Poker Face...which isn't half bad, I think she may have a future in this business!

KATY PERRY: Black & Gold (Sam Sparro Cover)

It's taken me awhile to get into Katy Perry. I was a bit turned off by the attention-getter I Kissed a Girl, but i'm all about her acoustic electro-stripped cover version of Sam Sparro's Black & Gold.

Okay...  so way before Katy Perry was kissing girls Jill Sobule was doing it!  Todays flashback goes back to the 90's to re-visit some of those girls that we kissed way back when.  Here is the track I Kissed A Girl that perhaps motivated Katy to have her 1st Bi-Sexual... BEYONCE NEW ALBUM LISTENING PARTY! (NEWS!)

I've just returned from Beyonce's album listening party at the Sony Club here in Manhattan. I'll let you in on how the event went and how the album sounds!

We arrived at 6:30pm, took the elevators up to the Sony Club on the 35th floor of 550 Madison Avenue. It's a beautiful building, and from the top floor you can see amazing views of the city! Mathew Knowles (Beyonce's father) introduced Beyonce's new look, sound and 'alter ego' Sasha Fierce!

The album will be released as a single and double disc set. The first containing If I Were a Boy, and primarily folky/r&b ballads. The second disc entitled I Am Sasha Fierce, includes the ubeat single Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) and is 'Beyonce's alter ego at work' said Knowles who pumped us up for the r&b, urban pop tracks that would follow.

Overall I think this is a very creative step for Beyonce, collaborations with Amanda Ghost, Stargate and Rodney Jerkins prove to be great choices for this project. The photographic imagery juxtaposes the soft and sultry Beyonce, with a harder, sexier Sasha Fierce! The Knowles camp plans to release tracks Ego and Broken Hearted Girl as second singles, but no final decision has been made yet.

Knowles also played us a spanish version of If I Were a Boy, and plans to release an ALL spanish version of this release in February of 09. Beyonce will also be touring around the world extensively through November of next year to support the new release.

My favorite tracks that were played were Dissapear, Radio, Diva and Sweet Dreams (previously known as Beautiful Nightmare). Beyonce fans both die-hard and casual will not be dissapointed, the production on this album is very, very slick and her voice is AMAZING as usual!

PINK: Why Did I Ever Like You

PRODUCT REVIEW: Coosh Headphones

From time to time, we'll be testing and reviewing music/sound related products and letting you know what we really think about them! Our first review, are these little white consumer headphones made by Coosh.

Coosh headphones' best feature is that they are very useful while exercising or running because they stay on and are comfortable. Most headphones fall of with excessive movement or when sweating, but Coosh's design allows them to remain in place. Their overall appearance is also pretty sleek and better than most competitors'. I have also used them extensively as a hands-free headset with my phone and they have worked very well.

However, one should not expect a superior sound quality as it is simply mediocre with these headphones. Although they cannot compete with Bose or Shure quality wise, I highly recommend them to joggers or athletes who like to listen to music while exercising.

BJORK + THOM YORKE: Nattura

I've always loved Bjork, however, i'm really not feelin' her newest track Nattura. (I want to like it, I really do!) It sounds like a jumbled mess of drums, with some of the most annoying vocals i've ever heard. I guess it would be perfect for a really dramatic action scene in a movie, or an animal chase on the Discovery Channel!

Even the additional background vocals by Thom Yorke make me yearn for the days of I've Seen It All. Come back, Bjork!

Anyway, i've told you what I think, now it's time for what YOU think!

CHRISTINA AGUILERA: Keeps Getting Better (Tricky Remix)

I've never been a fan of Christina Aguilera, she has a great voice but I think most of the time she over-sings everything to death and I feel like i'm at an audition whenever i'm watching her perform.

All negativity aside, the woman can sing and she is very talented. Her new single, Keeps Getting Better has just been given the remix treatment by one of my favorite artists, Tricky. Check it out and let me know what you think!

CHRIS CORNELL: Part Of Me

Soundgarden lead singer/songwriter Chris Cornell is back with a new solo album Scream to be released in early 2009...and it's produced entirely by Timbaland! The current single, is called Part Of Me. This album will be a change for Cornell, moving him into R&B/Pop territory...and I love it! Gotta love the rasp in that mans voice!

ACE OF BASE: Wheel of Fortune (2009 New Version!)

I've yet to post any Ace Of Base on the blog, oh my lord, how could that have happened!? Haha. All sarcasm aside, they may be a blast from the past, and one of them may be missing...but they still pack quite the punch on dance floor.

Here is a brand new version of one of their very first tracks, Wheel of Fortune. I found it on one of my favorite blogs!

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC: Whatever You Like (T.I. Cover)

Nobody in the industry can parody a song like Weird Al Yankovic. The cover of Bad...remember 'im fat, im fat, really really fat'?, really resonated in my life as a child, as did hits such as Like a Surgeon (Madonna) and Amish Paradise (Coolio).

Al is about to release another track, a parody cover of T.I.'s Whatever You Like. If you want to get a good laugh out, I recommend downloading this track and blasting it on the block with your friends! It's been all over the net for a few days now, so i'm not exactly sure who to give credit to...but I think it originated here.

THE PRETENDERS: Live at Highline Ballroom Review

So on Tuesday night Matt and I went to see The Pretenders at the Highline Ballroom, and they were AMAZING. Chrissie Hynde still sounds like she did in the 80's! the whole band were excellent. The did several songs from Break Up The Concrete which is a great album, but of course we were most excited about the classics, and she did not disappoint. They played Talk of The Town, Kid, Back On The Chain Gang, Don't Get Me Wrong, Brass in Pocket, Day to Day, Thumbellina and a few others.

Don't forget to plant a tree and Break Up The Concrete!

Here is the a video I shot of them in action singing Back On The Chain Gang!

Grace Jones graces the November cover of Britsh style magazine Dazed & Confused. The photo set was taken by Chris Cunningham who has been a favorite of mine for years. Inside the magazine, you can see some very shockingly nude photos of Ms. Jones!

KEYSHIA COLE: Playa Cardz Right (featuring 2pac)

Keyshia Cole's most recent effort, an older track called Playa Cardz Right, features vocals from 2pac. It's typical Keyshia fare, i'm not too impressed but it's worth a listen!

KANYE WEST: Love Lockdown (Video Premiere)

Kanye West has just premiered the video for single Love Lockdown. I like it a lot, but it reminds me of what Bjork did with Earth Intruders a few years ago, remember?

Enjoy and always let us know what you think!

NAYO: African Girl

Nayo (pronounced Nigh-O) reminds me of Sade, and that's never a bad thing! I came across African Girl last year and really didn't give it a chance. This track is very smooth and relaxing. Nayo is originally from Nigera and draws influence from Madonna, Seal, Annie Lennox and Carole King.

Don't know why but I have been listening to Debbie Harry's song He Is So frequently today.  This is an older track from 1989 I think...  Geeze thats old! It's pretty cool and felt that the page could always use a little more from Debbie, so I included He Is So and a few others just for fun!

HEARTBREAK: We're Back

Well I love this song, We're Back by Heartbreak. Their album Lies has been described as sounding like the Scissor Sisters produced by Giorgio Moroder.

There is something so wrong about this song but yet so right. I think the comedy dancing in this live version of it just makes it even better!
