418451 INDEPENDENT RECORD STORE DAY APRIL 18th!

I know I am not the only person who loves wandering into an independent record store and browsing through rows upon rows of old vinyls and CD’s looking for a hidden gem, even if only for a cool record to frame! I love the atmosphere in these places, the smell of dusty old records and the fact that the staff are usually music lovers and not just snotty teenagers who could care less about music!

With digital music taking over, even major record stores like Virgin are crashing and burning so will there even be any independent ones left in the not too distant future? The first Record Store Day was held last year and was the idea of a few record store owners who felt we needed reminding about these great stores!

So go out on April 18th and support an independent record store! Many around the world have special events on with live music etc. You can visit the record store day website for participating stores.

PS among my favorites are Bleecker Street Records in Greenwich Village, NYC and Uncle Sam’s in Miami Beach ;)
