EURYTHMICS: Savage Video Trilogy (Beethoven (I Love To Listen To), I Need A Man + Heaven)

Once again I find myself obsessing over the EURYTHMICS and revisiting their immense back catalogue. Tonight I’m re-obsessed with the classic I NEED A MAN from the SAVAGE album, that I consider one of their best.

The video was the second part of a series directed by Sophie Muller, The first being BEETHOVEN (I LOVE TO LISTEN TO) In which see Annie as a dowdy mentally ill housewife who sees visions of a child and a man in drag, before flipping out and trashing her house ( LOVE the cornflakes scene!) then ditching her dull life taking off in the middle of the day dressed to the nines.

This is where the I NEED A MAN video takes over Annie takes to the mic in a seedy night club roaring about how she she needs a real man ‘Don’t powder puff just keep it rough!.’ The following video is HEAVEN where Annie as the Diva is driven around town in a convertible and finds herself in all sorts of ‘celebrity situations’
