SHE: Moonlight + Traveling By Night

My friend Mel is always playing me the fantastically talented J-Pop artist SHE and i've decided it's time for a feature both her's and my favorite track, the laid back yet danceable MOONLIGHT (love the first breakdown at 1:15) on Hard Candy.  If you can imagine the happy go lucky electronic bounce of Kylie Minogue with a darker more ethereal twist you will be excited to hear these fresh new tunes...even funkier and with an undeniably catchy J-Pop touch.  A must listen for pop, electronic and dance music fanatics.  A creative edge backs the tunes as each album unfolds as a story. I'm loving the complete package, artists take note - more music should be released this way.

Make sure to pick up Orion. I'm really getting into the story behind the release,
"The album orion introduces us to the girl Sarah and follows her adventures in the "outside world".  Taking place at the same time as 'coloris', the album gives us another view into the world where that story took place and builds upon it with familiar sounds, this time as experienced through Sarah's eyes and ears."

ASTRA MOVEO: Dollface + Criminals and Killers 'Human' Remix

Wow guys this is a must listen! I can see ASTRA MOVEO tearing through 2010 with a vengance - they've got strong pop hooks with a electronic rock. If you love Muse or The Killers you'll love these guys no doubt.

The teaser videos for the new material (first one, second one) project a world of astral fantasy mixed with old movies and world strife. Mother Teresa even makes an appearance!  We've got two fresh 320k tracks, DOLLFACE and CRIMINALS to introduce us to the next wave of electro rock.

I can't get over how I missed this months ago - a masterpiece remixed video version of Human by the Killers. It's hot - love the old Japanese movies. Can't wait to hear the full length and see what these guys really have to offer. Full release on December 1. - Matt

MADONNA: Raising Malawi Personal Video Message

This week I posted about MADONNA's visit to Malawi to plant a tree in honor of the start of building the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls but i felt this video was worth its own post! Madonna sits down and tells us why Malawi is important to her and asks us to get involved. I really love this video she is so genuine and unrehearsed and you can tell she is speaking from the heart...

ROISIN MURPHY: New Single Message!

One of our most obsessed about favorites ROISIN MURPHY has announced that a new single will be streamed next Monday at 12pm EST on Facebook and Myspace - and you can hear bits of the new material (which all sounds like a funkier progression from Overpowered) behind her. What a tease! Happy Halloween indeed! Love the 'em' at the beginning...Go Ro! FYI - the single is not Demon Lover! - Matt

JAY Z FT. ALICIA KEYS: Empire State of Mind Official + Yankee Stadium Videos

I think JAY Z and ALICIA KEYS gave the Yankees good luck last night when they performed EMPIRE STATE OF MIND at Yankee Stadium. I wish I could have been there last night to see them do it this song - it was just made for the event!

The official video for the track also just premiered and it's really slick! I just moved here this summer so this is like my theme song at the moment, plus it gave me a good laugh because Jay Z is sitting at my subway stop at one point! - Camille

DAN BLACK: HardCandyMusic.com Interview

We were thrilled last week when we were invited to chat with DAN BLACK. He was in town for the '09 CMJ Festival to play a couple of shows around NYC (see our review of his debut performance in NY at the High Rise PR showcase, which also featured Casxio + Via Tania). We had a lovely chat with Dan about his music, live show, New York, France and plenty more! Check out the interview below! More from CMJ week coming as the weekend unfolds!

MICHAEL JACKSON: My Thoughts on This Is It

On Wednesday night I went to see THIS IS IT. I have to admit that I half expected to see a guy who wasn't really into it just going through the motions, despite what has been said since MICHAEL JACKSON's death about tour rehearsals. That was actually not the case at all, he was on top of every detail the consummate professional and you could see had poured his heart and soul into the show. He was on top of every detail, those weren't the actions of someone just looking to pick up a check.

He busted all the trademark moves and greatly impressed me with his voice, especially on HUMAN NATURE. I loved seeing how the show was put together, a lot of the footage showed the sets as they would have been at the concerts as it was shot late into June. Michael and the team really took it to another level with all the visual effects they had planned for the show, especially with the new videos for THRILLER and THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US.

We also got to see full choreography, from different days spliced together, for some of his many hits like MAN IN THE MIRROR & BILLIE JEAN. At times I felt like I was really there seeing him live and the urge to clap at the end of a number took over, by the end of the movie that urge had overtaken everybody!

Not only was the dancing and singing fantastic but I really enjoyed seeing the exchanges between him and the people on the tour. It was fun to see him laughing and joking around with them. Another thing I loved about the film was seeing the dancers reactions when watching him do his thing on stage, they went crazy, as you would if you we in a crowd of about 30 watching him rehearse!

I believe that the film is a great tribute to Michael and I am pleased that we were able to get a glimpse at the remarkable show he was putting together and see that his talent never left.. - Camille

FLORENCE & THE MACHINE: Live at The Bowery Ballroom

I really loved Florence's acoustic performance at the FADER fort on Saturday (post coming soon!) but Tuesday night at the Bowery Ballroom with the full band FLORENCE & THE MACHINE took it to another level. She entered the stage in a long Grecian dress, not looking much like a rock star and started a slow acoustic version of Lungs, which was gorgeous but left me waiting for the inevitable crescendo! I knew she was gonna step it up a notch, and she certainly did bursting into a high energy version of the song.

Not only is Florence one of the most amazing live singers but she has real stage presence and her performance is electrifying. She performed with such passion and intensity that I felt like she was up there bearing her tortured soul. She flailed around the stage shaking her hair amid flashing strobe lights that created an intense atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed her drum beating, there's nothing quite like the juxtaposition of a guy playing a harp in the corner and a chick wildly beating a drum center stage.

I think that one of the most interesting things about Florence, is that she is a rock singer who also happens to have an amazing voice, and is just as comfortable with an acoustic ballad as she is thrashing around the stage and belting out her songs with fervor. - Camille

FAN DEATH: Reunited (Video + MP3)

FAN DEATH is back...well REUNITED is more like it. I've found myself constantly humming this new track since I first heard it. The video is an all out celebrity fest with some 'just in time for Halloween' cameos from Marilyn Manson, Axel Rose, Prince - to name a few. New EP A Coin For The Well is out soon.  Full length please! - Matt

DAN BLACK: Debut NYC Performance (CMJ at Norwood)

Friday night fresh (well not quite so fresh it was the end of CMJ week after all!) from interviewing DAN BLACK I headed back down to Norwood, a fancy townhouse on 14th Street (which I'm sure had never seen a party quite like this one!) to the High Rise PR event to see Dan perform his debut gig in NYC. Matt (from The Music Slut) and I braved the sweat pit that was the tiny room on the fourth floor where the performances took place and muscled our way to the front as Dan took the stage.

For much of the performance Dan danced on what he joked was "A stage the size of a soapbox" (accept he wasn't really kidding, they literally put a small box in the front of the stage for him to stand on so people in the back could see him LOL) Unfazed by the cramped stage and scorching temperature he more than made it work - he owned that box! - he tore though songs that I already consider classics including SYMPHONIES, WONDER, YOURS, ALONE and true to his word a killer mash-up of MISSY ELLIOTT's monster hit PASS THAT DUTCH for a delighted crowd.

His stunning performance left me wondering what this guy could do with a stage the size of Wembley or MSG, and with music and performances like this you'd better believe he'll get there!

Stay tuned to Hard Candy for the interview coming soon and check YouTube for all the videos!

GRACE JONES: Oi Fashion Rocks

Imagine my excitement when I was Estelle's tweet that GRACE JONES had just performed HURRICANE, SLAVE TO THE RHYHTM and PULL UP TO THE BUMPER at Oi Fashion Rocks in Brazil. Grace was paired up with Marc Jacobs at the event (nooo not like that! wouldn't that be something to talk about!) I wonder if she ever wears normal clothes? In my mind these outfits are just regular day wear for her!

This video of Pull To To The Bumper kills me the ass shaking never gets old does it? Well maybe just for her son who is on the drums!

LADYHAWKE: My Delirium (Walter Sobcek Remix)

Hey everyone tonight! I love love love LADYHAWKE! Its too bad the first time I saw her live was at the Perez Hilton Festival - but I must say I have always been a avid fan. RENI LANE: The Delancey NME Showcase at CMJ

On Thursday night I was invited down to The Delancey to see RENI LANE at the NME showcase. Only having heard one song from her - the brilliant PLACE FOR US that Matt posted the other week - I was not sure what to expect but it was a nice little intro to Reni Lane!

During the sound check they had a lot of technical difficulties, so after some awkwardness ensued with the band on stage and ready to go, finally the sound people decided they should start and just perform without a keyboard. This must have sucked for them but despite the pared down set she rocked regardless. Vocally she sounded great live and I loved the tracks she sang including RUNAWAY TRAIN and PLACE FOR US which left me wanting to hear the album.

One of my favorite songs of the night was the cover she chose to close the show, the BLONDIE classic HEART OF GLASS. Clearly nobody does it like Debbie but just attempting it proves the girl has taste and makes her aces in my book! I think that Reni is one to watch for 2010! - Camille

MY GOLD MASK: Bette Davis Eyes (Kim Carnes Cover)

I'm so infatuated with MY GOLD MASK after seeing them perform at Sheena Beaston + The Culture of Me's CMJ Showcase party the other night. They discovered a piece of gold. The wailing of Allison Goldfrapp (you know, when you think she'll explode!) and the rawness of a 'girl with drum' like The White Stripes create a high energy performance on stage and record. We've got some great videos from the show to share, but for now check out their cover of BETTE DAVIS EYES originally by my favorite Kim Carnes. FEVER RAY: Stranger Than Kindness (Nick Cave Cover) Video

Its getting close to that time of year when we dodge eggs, Halloween. now if your making a house party and want some sick visuals to set the mood I got just the thing for you! FEVER RAY a Hard Candy staple is re-releasing there album with covers of Vashti Bunyan’s Here Before and Nick Cave and Anita Lane’s Stranger Than Kindness.

Ever since Karin Dreijer Andersson went solo she has produced pure musical magic, she takes me away with her art style and music. For her cover of Stranger Than Kindness she has this sick video, as i said Halloween material watch and prepare to freak!-JAKE

MY GOLD MASK: Violet Eyes

I think its high time we did a post on Sheena Beaston favorites MY GOLD MASK! I'm really loving their track VIOLET EYES. I'm getting a kind of PJ Harvey vibe from Gretta's vocals and the track also sounds a little Raveonettes esque. This rocking duo are playing the Sheena Beaston and Culture Of Me CMJ party tonight at Europa in Brooklyn, so if you're in NYC come down and check em out! - Camille

KYLIE MINOGUE: White Diamond (Film Version)

Collaboration between KYLIE MINOGUE and Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) always proves enjoyable for the listener - a great pair indeed.  Kylie and Shears recorded WHITE DIAMOND, a hauntingly somber orchestral track which Minogue lends passionate vocals to.

Unfortunately, the studio version of the up-beat dance track is unreleased. Remixers, this file is in 320 - work your magic *hint hint*. Watch Kylie perform the dance version - feathers, boas and all. - Matt

RIHANNA: Russian Roulette 'The Wait Is Ova' + Rated R

RIHANNA is back with power-ballad RUSSIAN ROULETTE which is accompanied by a sexy single cover and new 'Rated R' logo. The campaign is steaming ahead with 'The Wait Is Ova' as its mantra.  A new album, Rated R will be released on November 23rd. I'm liking the track, not what I would have thought for a 'empowering' comeback single after what happened to her earlier this year. I'm predicting that The Wait Is Ova (which you can watch Rihanna recording the video for here) will be the 'comeback' pop single fans are waiting for. The video for Russian Roulette will premiere on ABC during the prime time spot. - Matt

GIORGIO MORODER: The Chase (Flashback)

I saw Midnight Express in the late 70's, and bought the soundtrack Midnight Express which was incredible. After watching the film I knew i'd never be able to smuggle anything across the turkish border again!

You have to see this movie with score by GIORGIO MORODER. He is a three-time Oscar winning Italian record producer, song writer and performer.  He was ahead of his time with the use of synthesizers in the 70's and 80's. I think Giorgio had a great influence on new wave, house techno and electronic music.  He worked with artists like "Donna Summer"," Electric Light Orchestra", "Led Zeppelin", "Queen" and "Elton John". He was the founder of "Oasis Records" which later became "Casablanca Records". - Dennis

SYLVESTER: You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) (Flashback)

SYLVESTER was sometimes know as the "Queen of Disco" a gay drag performer. Sylvester ran away from home when he was 16 hears old and moved to California. "My life started when I moved to San Francisco". Sylvester is considered to be one of the first Hi-NRG artist. In 1978 YOU MAKE ME FEEL (MIGHTY REAL) and "Dance (Disco Heat)" These two songs spent 6 weeks at #1. His back up singers were "Two tons of Fun" ("The Weather Girls"). Dennis

LILY ALLEN: Who'd Have Known (Video)

LILY ALLEN, originally a hidden hip gem spewing an ever ending stream of creative melancholy tunes. I realized Lilly was a house hold name when my little brother who loves Jay Z and Nickleback mentioned how much he loved Lilly Allen, it was clear to me when i remembered her cover of Britney's 'Womanizer'. Lily proclaims she ripped off the chorus for WHO'D HAVE KNOWN from boy band Take That - it doesn't bother her at all! It reminds her of those moments snuggled at home enjoying being comfy and alone (and wanting her man). I guess this one was for the ladies and us romantics.

The new video starts off true to the lyrics, her lying in bed and watching some dude who looks like Elton John on late night MTV or something of the sort, lol.  She traps her rock-star elder love in the car and the rest is just one big fantasy - got to love! - JAKE

P.S. i hope this means she isn't leaving the industry.

MADONNA: Madonna Rising VH1 Special (Flashback)

Today after randomly getting into The Music Building here in New York where MADONNA used to live and rehearse with her band before she was famous, I had the urge to watch the VH1 Special Madonna Rising which I was obsessed with way back in 1998.

Madonna & Rupert Everet go back in time and visit all the places that she used to go when she first moved to New York before she got famous. It also features interviews with some of her friends like Debi Mazar and Maripol. It has to be one of my favorite interviews ever, because she is so unguarded and natural and I love hearing her talk about how she got her start! - Camille

SENIOR CHOIR: Sings Hip Hop

Now this might not be what you were expecting to see on Hard Candy this morning but I just had to share it, its the funniest thing I've seen in a while! Check out this senior choir singing hip hop songs, every song is a winner from 'Can't Touch This,' "Don't Cha Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me to "Hot in Here." Sidenote: I will not be held responsible if someone spots one of your grandparents in this!

Thanks Brian!

CHARLIFT + PASSION PIT: 'Bruises' and 'Kingdom Come' Remixes

Collaborations: one of the most exciting words in the entertainment industry! It seems we get excited when two performers we really enjoy get together and create musical genius. When a collaboration happens it's either creative in a completely new way or a "deja-vu" of two talented people who produce a load of boring crap that we have heard too many times before. I am purely excited for this CHAIRLIFT and PASSION PIT collaboration, they met at Bonnaroo and solidified this awesome pact after a garden party in England. Think about two electronic groups ahead of the entire genre remixing ea ch other! - JAKE

EVELYN "CHAMPAGNE" KING: I'm In Love (Flashback)

Last night before Chromeo hit the stage at Irving Plaza I was enjoying some old school tunes and I heard what I though was Janet Jackson's R&B Junkie, pretty random I thought but exciting nonetheless, then much to my surprise I realized it wasn't actually Janet and she'd ripped someone off!

Today I found out that someone is EVELYN 'CHAMPAGNE' KING (Thanks James!) and the delightful song I was busting a move to in confusion last night is I'M IN LOVE. ANGIE STONE: I Ain't Hearing U + 'Unexpected' News

ANGIE STONE has been on my favorite list since Mahogany Soul's Brotha and ultimate 'shitty day' track Pissed Off.  She's got a new album coming out (no release date yet) and we've got I AIN'T HEARING YOU, a brand new track which will hopefully be included on the release.  Solid sound progression for Angie - still sounds like the soul diva we love with a slick track wrapped around her sexy voice. -Matt

I Ain't Hearin' U

Angie spoke with the Detroit Free Press about the new album, Unexpected, read it below.

QUESTION: What can you tell us about the new record?
ANSWER: It's titled "Unexpected," and you can expect to be surprised. Pleasantly surprised, I hope. You've got some classic Angie Stone there, and some Angie Stone that's a little adventurous. I feel like I've been working long and hard enough that I'm in a position to try some new things.

Q: Such as ...?

A: I don't want to give away any surprises -- we wouldn't be able to call it "Unexpected"!

Q: I'm guessing it's safe to say you've taken on more of a songwriting role. That seems to be the trend over the course of your career.
A: I've gotten more involved, but I've still got a team that does a lot of the writing with me. To work with me, a person has to come from a genuine space, a reality. I'm not a bubblegum pop chick. Part of what works for my career is that I've dealt with subjects that are more real and relatable. People who work with me have to be able to appreciate that.

Q: That's the overriding philosophy for you, even in concert.
A: Always. You've got to remember, I'm 30 years into the game at this point, 10 years as a solo artist. I'm not a track star. I come from the school of hard knocks, so everything has to be real with me. It seems I've always been on this budget-style tour that won't allow me to do pyrotechnics and other stuff that the artists selling millions of albums can do. But I'm in a place where I'm good with who I am. It is what it is. I've always been good with me, because I keep it real. So either you like me or hate me.

Q: You got your break a bit later in life than most artists. Do you think that helped your perspective?
A: I got the late break by choice. ... I did the solo thing so I wouldn't have any regrets when I got older. It was my choice to wait. So I think there were things I learned along the way that cushioned my fall. Music and times are always evolving. My advice is to stay spiritually grounded. That's the only advice I feel qualified to give anybody.

MADONNA: Rolling Stone Interview Highlights

On LADY GAGA ........“I see myself in Lady Gaga. When I saw her, she didnt have a lot of money for her production. she's got holes in her fishnets, and there's mistakes everywhere. It was kind of a mess, but I can see that she has that IT Factor. It's nice to see that at a raw stage"

On her biggest hits ..... "I've never been a good judge of what things are going to be huge or not. The songs that I think are the most retarded songs I've written, like "Cherish" and "Sorry", a pretty big hit off my last album, end up being the biggest hits. "Into the Groove" is another song I feel retarded singing, but everybody seems to like it."

On JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE ...... "Justin is a brilliant songwriter. I mean, "What Goes Around.....Comes Around?" Brilliant. I thought it would be a challenge to work with him. He's sort of a Cary Grant. I love him. I love working with him."

On who's TURNED HER DOWN! "I wanted to work with EMINEM. I dont think he wanted to work with me. Maybe he's shy."

The biggest challenge of her career? "Working on EVITA. It's a whole different singing sensibility. I had to seriously work with a vocal coach"

On the first 3 concerts she saw ....... "My first show was DAVID BOWIE. My second show was ELTON JOHN, and my third was BOB MARLEY! Not bad right?"

KYLIE MINOGUE: Hammerstein Ballroom NYC + Speakerphone Tour Version

I have loved KYLIE MINOGUE since she played Charlene in Neighbours, even if she did lose me a little in the Indie years, when I survived on my "Kylie" album (Hey, I was 8 the brilliance of albums like "Kylie Minogue" was lost on me then!) Sunday night I finally got the chance to live a childhood dream and see her live at her first date in New York. She was everything I imagined she'd be and much more.

We lined up for 2 hours outside (along with half of New York) and finally ran in to claim our second row spot! After getting into the groove while the DJ played a set that my friend described as "Every Gay in New York's Ipod," finally it was time for Kylie! As soon as the curtain rose and I saw her perched on top of a huge skull, she had won me over. She descended singing the classic LIGHT YEARS:

"Please fasten your seat belts,
My name is Kylie,

I'll be your purser
,
The exits are located in the front and the rear of the craft"

I guarantee you not one person was looking for an exit Kylie! The lighting in this first section was phenomenal, colored red laser lights flashed all around the arena adding to the excitement.

IN MY ARMS was another highlight of the show coming near the end by which time my two housemates and I had all lost our minds jumping up and down through the entire song waving a purple feather boa at Kylie LOL. This has to be my favorite song from X and it got even better live!

The request song of the show was THE ONE which is another of my favorite X tracks just as I was settling down and enjoying the ballad, Kylie flipped the switch and this became a dance number sending us all into a tailspin! (I really could pick em all out as favorites but I'll spare you!)

As I expected Kylie was genuinely a sweetheart, her personality just envelopes you, she smiled and laughed the whole way through the show. She had fun talking to the audience and not in that rehearsed way, but just chatting it up and going with the flow as if we were all her buddies ( and yes by the end of the show I was left thinking I wish she was my BFF!) You could tell she was floored by the response she received from the crowd who loved everything and showed it! It felt like we were telling her "It's okay America loves ya!" One particularly cute moment was when she went and grabbed her cell phone and recorded the audience, the moment clearly meant a lot to her, and she let us know it.

The show overall was incredible, the only fault I think you could level at it was that it was a little cheesy in places, but that is her style and it worked for me! All the visuals were great, the sets and dancers complimented her well and the screens were very well done. I really enjoyed the videos they showed of Kylie, very arty and showed great photos of her, I really loved the BURNING UP/VOGUE one.

It must be said that not only was it a stunning show visually but she also has a remarkable voice that I was honestly surprised about. I knew she could sing, but she blew me away hitting those high notes throughout the whole show. Also people say she can't dance (well that might have been be actually LOL) but she can move and she showed it. She doesn't do choreography like Madonna (well who does really) but what she lacks in that department she makes up in poses haha) The show was simply fun, fun, fun and it really cemented my love for Kylie... It was Love At First Sight! - Camille

KYLIE MINOGUE: Better Than Today (Dance Tutorial)

Ok seriously now can't KYLIE just be my best friend? She's just so loveable! Now I'm back on the Kylie wagon after avoiding spoilers before seeing the show I can share this cute video of her performing the new song BETTER THAN TODAY that she premiered on tour, with a lamp! Now where do I have a long stemmed lamp and a willing participant? Matt's office!! Watch out for our version!

AMII STEWART: Knock On Wood (Flashback)

This song is on my top 10 list of the 70's disco hits. When this song came out, all of the disco's were playing it. I bought it on vinyl. This was AMII STEWART's first single, a disco cover version Eddie Floyd's KNOCK ON WOOD reached number one in the U.S. in April 1979, and earned Amii a platinum record and also a "Grammy Award" nomination. Today Amii is working as a goodwill ambassador for Italian Unicef. - Dennis

FENECH SOLER: Lies

I would say this sounds like Calvin Harris right off, in fact Matt called it as so, but its FENECH SOLER - a group of talent shipped to you straight from across the pond! They ares making waves in electro-pop fusion, the boys got the Avant Garde blitz techno with masculine vocals - with cutting edge production. These boys hail from a tiny village near Peter Borough, don't ask me how we got the EP but if you put something on the web its bound to get around and this is worth a listen. - Jake

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE: You've Got The Love (Video + The XX Remix)

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE is hot on our radar this week!  Not only do we have a new remix of forthcoming single YOU'VE GOT THE LOVE (originally recorded as You Got The Love by Candi Staton) - there is a sick video to match!  It's like you've never seen her before; sexy as hell and sparkling brighter than the 4th of July.  Nice one! - Matt

Remixes by Tom Middleton, Boy 8 Bit and Jack Beats as well as a b-side and acoustic versions of Drumming Song and Rabbit Heart will see the light of day when the single is released November 16.

GOSSIP: Give Us Something To Talk About At Terminal 5 NYC

When I got the chance to go and see GOSSIP at Terminal 5 I practically snatched the tickets from my boss's hand! I've been following the band since "Standing In The Way Of Control" and have heard plenty about their crazy live performances! Still I was not prepared for the madness that was Friday night's performance!

After claiming our spot at the front and enjoying the openers APACHE BEAT, and particularly MEN (more about them later) finally 10 pm rolled around and the bass player took the stage, followed by the drummer Hannah and then guitarist Nathan, we then heard Beth but didn't see her for a second and then there she was in all her glory, kicking ass from the very first note of "Dimestore Diamond!"

The band tore though classics from "Standing In The Way of Control" including "Your Mangled Heart," "Listen Up!" and some of the amazing new tracks from "Music For Men" like my personal favorite "Love Long Distance," "Pop Goes The World" and of course the fantastic "Heavy Cross".

My favorite moments included her calling out this guy who had been calling some girl a c**t, as only she could with her southern drawl, pointing fingers and eventually passing the mike over to the guy to apologize! Another highlight was the remarkable rendition of "What Love Got To Do With It" performed by Beth barefoot in her underwear, which the WHOLE crowd sang along to, (well by this time it was more of a screech from me!) (Sidenote: Usually I'd hate Tina to be messed with but this worked!)

Of course "Standing In The Way Of Control" another favorite, was the last proper song. An already frantic crowd was sent over the edge when she jumped into the audience and proceed to roam around for most of song, just ya know doing her thing barefoot in a mosh pit of some 1,000 plus excited fans. The show was wrapped by a sing along to "We Are The Champions" and quick as a flash she waved goodbye and that was it... I had experienced the insanity of Beth Ditto! - Camille

(As usual keep your eyes on the YouTube Channel and Flickr for goodies from the show!)

NORAH JONES: Chasing Pirates

It's been a while since we've heard anything from NORAH JONES and now she is back with this catchy little tune CHASING PIRATES taken from her forthcoming album THE FALL due in November.

The record represents a shift in sound for Norah, who worked with Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse), Ryan Adams, Will Sheff and Jessie Harris. Norah had this to say about the release:

"For this record, I just had a sound in my head," she says. "I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different."

I'm happy she decided to mix things up a little, I love the previous albums but I am excited to see her with a more current sound.

MICHAEL JACKSON: This Is It (Backing Vocals by The Jacksons)

MICHAEL JACKSON's posthumous 'behind the scenes' documentary is seeing it's release in a few weeks. THIS IS IT is a new track that was to be performed on the tour and is now included on the 2-disc CD - sounds like a typical MJ ballad and includes The Jacksons on backing vocals.  There will also be an orchestral version of the song that is said to knock our socks off! Can't wait. - Matt

This Is It is released on October 26/27.

GOSSIP: Love Long Distance (Riva Starr Radio Mix)

In anticipation of Camille's review of the smashing GOSSIP show this weekend here in NYC (which I missed...worst.) In apologetic fashion, I   have scoured the net for a new remix and found Riva Starr's LOVE LONG DISTANCE dance-floor takeover!  This track is pumpin' me up for a new work week.  The band is still on tour so grab tickets while you still can. Check Myspace for dates. - Matt

EMILIANA TORRINI: Me and Armini (New EP + Video)

Icelandic songstress EMILIANA TORRINI is re-releasing ME AND ARMINI off last years Me and Armini via one of our favorite labels, Rough Trade.  The remix that backs the newly 'second verison' of the  video for ME AND ARMINI is spiced up by Dan Carey.  You can get this mix, and a reggae infused version by Simone Lombardi as well as two brand new tracks performed on KCRW on the new Me And Armini EP- Matt

LADY GAGA: Imagine (Live from The National Equality March Dinner)

LADY GAGA kept true to her statement that she'd be at the National Equality March put on by the Human Rights Campaign.  She sat down at the piano to cover John Lennon's IMAGINE.  Prior to performing, Gaga spoke at the event...naming it the 'most important point in her career'. Hopefully this will inspire more celebrities and public figures to come out and support the cause.  It's not over - it's just begun. -Matt

LADYHAWKE: Magic (Video) + Remixes by Classixx + The Swiss

LADYHAWKE's video for favorite track MAGIC off debut Ladyhawke (the special edition is worth the extra cash!) hit the net this week to rave reviews from bloggers alike.  I'm tied between Dusk Till Dawn and Magic now, both of which are creative storyline based videos (why don't many artists do that anymore!?)  My favorite of the remix lot - which includes an army of greats - is from Classixx.

SHAKIRA: She Wolf (Peter Rauhofer Remix)

I love that hard-hitting' dance your ass off club mix of a catchy pop song; but only when it's done right.  When SHAKIRA's ferociously empowering SHE WOLF was handed over to Peter Rauhofer, I knew the result would be all out club madness.  Very satisfied with the mix, the original is preferred (what a sick production from Pharell). A great remix on this Saturday night. Signing off from NYC - Matt.

MARIAH CAREY: I Want To Know What Love Is (Chew Fu Remixes)

At first glance, I thought the Foreigner cover of I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS was going to further push MARIAH CAREY into a 'struggling to stay relevant' artist.  She proved us wrong, with a great vocal performance on the track (even though it really didn't need to be covered) and some KILLER remixes that are hittin' clubs now.  My favorite is by Chew Fu - listen to them below!  This is how you do a remix, great job guys! - Matt

BERTIE BLACKMAN: Thump (Video Premiere) + Wild Turkeys Remix

I'm pretty excited to have found BERTIE BLACKMAN, especially the new video + thumpin' Wild Turkey's remix of Secrets and Lies debut single, THUMP.  It's got such a downtempo yet sexy beat to it, one of my favorite remixes to come out lately.  Play it all the way through to the end and just let it take you out of your thoughts for a few minutes. -Matt

ELLIE GOULDING: Under The Sheets

ELLIE GOULDING is an up and coming indie artist that i've loved since hearing Starry Eyed. Produced by Starsmith and released through Neon Gold (they're on their 10th release and have yet to dissapoint) - this record showcases Ellie's unique vocals and lush production. Love this release! -Matt

LADY GAGA: The Fame Monster Covers + Bad Romance At Alexander McQueen

No matter your thoughts on LADY GAGA can we all just take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness of these covers of THE FAME MONSTER? These were shot by Hedi Slimane, most famous for work with Christian Dior's men's line.

I'm particularly taken with the blond wig shot. I think I'd get the album purely on the basis of that artwork alone! Not to mention that the expanded version of THE FAME includes eight new tracks. So far we have heard BAD ROMANCE, and in the finished form as premiered at the Alexander McQueen fashion show, its grown on me a lot! I can't wait to hear the rest! - Camille

Here is what Gaga had to say about the release:

"On my re-release 'The Fame Monster', I wrote about everything I didn't write on 'The Fame'. While traveling the world for two years, I've encountered several monsters, each represented by a different song on the new record: my ‘Fear of Sex Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Alcohol Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Love Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Death Monster,’ my ‘Fear of Loneliness Monster,’ etc.

I spent a lot of nights in Eastern Europe, and this album is a pop experimentation with industrial/Goth beats, 90's dance melodies, an obsession with the lyrical genius of 80's melancholic pop, and the runway. I wrote while watching muted fashion shows and I am compelled to say my music was scored for them. I also composed a ballad for the album, "Speechless", a song for my father, and it's my favorite work of all. I wrote every piece on the road - no songs about money, no songs about fame. I wrote it for my fans, so I wrote everything in between."

LENNY KRAVITZ: Let Love Rule (Justice Remix Video)

LENNY KRAVITZ mixes his tunes with JUSTICE, and after a remix for U2 [Hit the U2 link, they should kill their photoshop dude]  how mainstream can they go! Our lovely boys from the city of light lend their synths to a sound I could call nothing less than 80s punk utopia. I would watch the 'DVD' [lol] - it don't get more hokey, you gotta love the bat smashing at the end!- JAKE

IAMX FT. IMOGEN HEAP: My Secret Friend (Video Premiere)

Disturbia and striking visuals appear in IAMX feat IMOGEN HEAP [her birth name is actually Imogen Heap] new video for MY SECRET FRIEND. I love this bitch she just knows how to bring it every time, always pulls you from reality and "takes you to her rivers" and such. I must say she is a bit dramatic about things here so don't say i haven't warned yah! - JAKE

MADONNA: Everybody 27th Birthday

Dance and Sing, Get Up and Do Your Thing!

27 years ago today MADONNA's first single EVERYBODY was released. Everybody has always been one of my favorite M tracks, Stephen Bray and M really make magic on this one! Still sounds as good to me today as when I first heard it (Not that was 1982 but you get my drift!)

I'm also quite partial to the 1981' version of Everybody found on the Pre Madonna CD, which by the way really is a must for all you M Fans ( it's a bunch of pre 1982 Madonna songs recorded with Stephen Bray) - Camille

ROISIN MURPHY: Royalty/Demon Lover at Viktor + Rolf Fashion Show

I didn't think it was possible to love Roisin anymore, but it seems I was wrong.. my love for her tripled the second I caught sight of her perched on top of a high platform, heavily pregnant, wearing a pink tutu dress performing at Viktor + Rolf's fashion show Saturday night in Paris.

Roisin performed two new tracks, ROYALTY and DEMON LOVER. The sound is a bit mixed to me, I can't really get a handle on it, it's a little RUBY BLUE and a little OVERPOWERED (I'm just fumbling around in the dark for a comparison really aren't I?) of course with her it's all brand new and I know its gonna work for me! I'm desperate to hear the rest of her album, after two years OVERPOWERED still sounds amazing but I need more Roisin! Give Me More Ro!! - Camille

GOSSIP: Love Long Distance +Heavy Cross (Later with Jools Holland)

It's another crazy concert weekend coming up for me, two of my favorite acts, KYLIE and GOSSIP are coming to town! You all know how much I've been loving the new Gossip record MUSIC FOR MEN and I'm uber excited to see Beth and the gang do their thing at Terminal 5 Friday night, it promises to be one hell of a show!

In preparation for the show I've been immersing myself in all things Gossip and just stumbled across this fantabulous video from when they went on Jools Holland last month (Peep Florence dancing in the background!) They performed LOVE LONG DISTANCE (rapidly becoming my favorite Music For Men track) and HEAVY CROSS. Music For Men is released in the U.S. tomorrow and features the bonus track THE BREAKDOWN. Get it at Amazon for just $7.99 - what a steal! - Camille

The gang will be on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow night!

JANELLE MONAE: Come Alive (The War Of Roses) + Diana Ross Cover

JANELLE MONAE hasn't gotten nearly the attention she deserves. Janelle brings a unique style to her sound and look. She's just recorded COME ALIVE (THE WAR OF ROSES) for the Kia Soul Collective (I wonder if they gave her a car?) Love the wailing, reminds me of that raw party feel of the B-52's.

MADONNA & LADY GAGA: Saturday Night Live Skit

MADONNA returned to SNL for the first time in forever last night alongside LADY GAGA. It was a cute little skit which started with them Voguing and then fighting. I can't get enough of watching M pulling on Gaga's wig LOL. M owned the skit and of course looked hotter, there's really no contest is there?

LOVE GRENADES: Genius of Fun + More Tracks

LOVE GRENADES has been an act out of L.A. that i've been watching closely for the past few years.  Catchy + sexy like Young Lovers and Tigers In The Fire have made their way 'round the past year and even received radio support. Brand new track GENIUS OF FUN is a Tom Tom Club inspired single in name and sound - however Love Grenades' Elizabeth Wight fuses in her own style with such charm.

UFFIE: Pop The Glock (Video Premiere) + Remix by Mirwais

Oh man, i've always loved UFFIE. She made her way around the blogs and came out of nowhere - then she dissapeared.  Never thought i'd wake up on a Saturday morning and find such an 'in your face' remix of dance track POP THE GLOCK with a video premiere to match. Production by super-electronically talented Feadz . Uffie's got a duet with Pharell coming up - one can only imagine what they'll do...

MADONNA: David Letterman & Ryan Seacrest Interviews

Any time MADONNA goes on Letterman you know you're in for a treat! I really enjoy the chemistry between them. He's not afraid to push her buttons and I think they genuinely like each other and she is comfortable with him so she lets loose!

Madonna was on top form last night making a Mariah Carey style entrance and waving like the Queen! The whole interview was funny, I particularly liked it when Dave asked her "What do you like on your pie" I just knew she'd come with a witty remark and true to form she did. The whole ordering a pizza without cheese and then going downstairs to eat it together was hilarious and she even gave out slices! wonder if anyone hung on to theirs?

ULTRA NATE: Faster Faster Pussycat (Let’s Go!) (Exclusive Video Premiere)

We have loved ULTRA NATE since Free hit the airwaves + dance floors back in ’98. The club diva has just completed Things Happen At Night, a collaboration with Unruly that sees it's release on November 17th. We expect it will be every bit as good as the electro-stomper that was 2007’s Grime, Silk, Thunder.

The first single, FASTER FASTER PUSSYCAT (LET'S GO!) features DJ King Tutt and today we premiere the official video. As usual she's looking fierce! I'm loving the black suited figures shaking their stuff!
