Grace Jones: ‘Fame’ and ‘Muse’ CDs Remastered & Reissued

It appears that on November 30th Grace Jones fans will be finally treated to remastered versions of Fame and Muse, two albums produced by Tom Moulton as part of the disco trilogy (also including Portfolio) released in the late 70′s that kick started her career.

I remember these both albums being a real pain to track down when I first started really getting into Grace, and I’m excited to finally lay my hands on decent quality remastered versions (alas with no bonus tracks).

Despite producing many club hits at the time, the trilogy is sadly frequently overlooked  in favor of work completed after her shift away from Disco, which was in its final days when these albums were released.   I urge you not to overlook them, all three of these albums contain some real gems that most certainly deserve your attention.

Check out some of the best performances of  the era in the playlist below. I think my personal favorite is Fame which was recorded for an Italian TV show in 1977. Give the woman a pair of leopard print gloves, some smoke and a couple of couches and you’ve got quite the performance!

Fame
Muse

p.s Don’t you just  love the album artwork, which was created by Richard Bernstein who frequently collaborated with Andy Warhol and designed covers for Interview magazine.
