Chordashian x Hard Candy: Nights & Weekends

The latest Hard Candy X mix comes courtesy of Brooklyn-based duo Chordashian, our latest obsession! We first featured them a few months ago with the brilliant ‘Cold Nights,’  a delightful house track which lifts vocals from Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Summertime Sadness.’ After falling in love with it, we devoured the rest of their material then tapped them to be a part of the series.

‘Nights & Weekends’ is an energetic house offering, over the space of an hour it takes you on an orgasmic journey, with excellent cuts from some of the most exciting artists and producers in the game right now. We’ve got ‘How To Hold On To You‘ by our man Clancy, who produced the last Hard Candy X mix (listen here), the brilliant ‘Turn Me Out‘ by Russ Chimes, and the divine Krystal Clear mix of Sky Ferreira‘s ‘Everything Is Embarrassing‘ to name but a few!

Be sure to keep up with Chordashian on Facebook and treat yourself to a tasty collection of tracks they’ve offered up as free downloads!

Clancy X Hard Candy: Nightlife

London-based producer Clancy first caught our attention with his recent nu disco jam ‘How To Hold On To You,‘  which has received support from DJs such as Tensnake, Moonlight Matters, and Zimmer. After checking out his SoundCloud and loving what we heard, we quickly invited him to be the next artist in the Hard Candy X remix series.

Nightlife‘ is a near hour-long wander through house territory. There are quite a few artists that are new to our ears, and possibly yours, but we’re loving what we’re hearing so we’ve got some homework to do! Continue reading

Labyrinth Ear x Hard Candy: Magnolia

Hard Candy favorites Labyrinth Ear are the latest act we have tapped to create a mixtape exclusively for our series. It is our pleasure to present to you the ‘Magnolia‘ mixtape that expertly fuses together some of the band’s favorite tracks of all time and some newer stuff that they are currently listening to. They’ve got everything in there from The Carpenters to Sonic Youth and M83… Say what?! Somehow this eclectic mix really works!

Labyrinth Ear had this to say about creating the mixtape…

“This mixtape is a culmination of everything we’ve been listening to currently. It’s a mixture of different genres and eras and styles, but I think somehow the mixture shares some similar qualities in the overall feel of the music. There’s some 90s hip hop, some classical, some chamber pop, some bangra, overall it’s a good representation of both of our tastes combined. We hope that you enjoy the mix as much as we did making it, and find it entertaining

Make sure that you are following them on Twitter and Facebook for updates on their forthcoming EP and any other goodies they may drop between now and then! Also, don’t forget to check out their latest track Amber if you missed it!

Follow Me X Hard Candy: Cosmic Rebirth

Brooklyn-based duo Follow Me first caught our attention with their stellar remix of TLC’s ‘Unpretty,’ shortly after they impressed us again with their Soul II Soul ‘Back To Life’ remix. That’s when we knew we had to ask them to be part of the Hard Candy X remix series!

Drawing inspiration from the Mayan ‘end of the world’ theories, which some thought meant that today would see the end of the world, and others believed would be the beginning of a new one, Joe and Anthony whipped up the fabulous ‘Cosmic Rebirth’ mixtape.

The silky smooth hour-long mix gets started with a previously unreleased Follow Me track, then works in some of our favorite tracks from the likes of Jonas Rathsman, Tyson and Satin Jackets.

Bright Light Bright Light X Hard Candy ‘Tough Love’

Despite spending his nights busy having a Kiki with the Scissor Sisters, the wonderfully talented Rod Thomas aka. Bright Light Bright Light took the time to whip up ‘Tough Love’ for our Hard Candy X mixtape series.

The video for ‘Feel It’ finds Thomas on a romp through NYC with Scissor Sisters own Del Marquis.
