No news on sound or direction yet – so im leaving you with a favorite remix of mine from the remix-less Seventh Tree (amazing album in it’s own right – but where were the remixes!?) by Gui Boratto. Enjoy his club take on single A&E. Also, enjoy the iconic Black Cherry-era photography. - Matt
Certain songs are made to be soundtracks, its plain to see from the bounce of the dude with the Ipod plugged into his ears. I mean one day I want a soundtrack tune made for myself, I think I would have Vangelis make mine or resurrect Bach to write me a violent one. I know everyone has a song they strut to and this one was definite one of them for me. I will write my list of sound tracked moments to The Real McCoy ‘s Runaway.
1. I Runaway-ed, strutting down my high school hallways
2. I Runaway-ed, while being plugged to my Ipod on the train to School.
3. I Runaway-ed, when I broke up with my lover and went home.
4. I Runaway-ed, after a especially happy go lucky moment.
5. I Runaway-ed, laying back in bed and dreaming of adolescent thoughts.
6. I Runaway-ed, xxxxxxxooooooooooooxxxxxxxxxxxooooooooxxxoooooo this is a PG13 site.
7. I Runaway-ed, leaving the whole episode behind me with a laugh.
8. I Runaway-ed, walking around the drug store looking for odds and ends.
9. I Runaway-ed, while ice skating in Prospect Park ice rink.
Enjoy this dance classic, appropriate for every moment. – Jake
Once a magician’s assistant, Paloma Faith seemingly came out of nowhere this past year with her striking fashion sense and powerhouse vocals. Not to mention, each piece of artwork that and every photo-shoot from Paloma is absolute perfection. Her debut has some great tracks on it, from the sassy Stone Cold Sober (an answer to Rehab perhaps?) to the choir backed power ballad New York. Title track Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? has just seen a video release – and she looks ‘n sounds beautiful and expressive as ever.
It’s no wonder she’s so on her game – she has a MA in time based arts from Leeds, has performed as a burlesque dancer and also acts. (more on Wikipedia) Check out the video below and while you are at it, view her previous videos New York and Stone Cold Sober for a real treat! – Matt
El Perro Del Mar gets remixed by Robyn – what could be better than that? It’s a Swedish bonanza! Robyn’s first mix, for Change of Heart is done under the name Rakamonie (like the EP she released last year) + also includes her own vocals! Keeping true to the original but pumping it up a bit – I am still lovin’ the J Rintamäki mix. If you haven’t already previewed the album, Love Is Not Pop is a must listen. Such beautiful music! – Matt
Rihanna has gone all American Life on us in the video for Hard. She’s really trying to hard (no pun intended) to prove that no-one can mess with her! She looks gorgeous as usual and I love all the outfits, but what’s with the Mickey Mouse ears when she’s on top of the tank?? – Camille
