I can’t pinpoint what song Xuman‘s Panic reminds me of, (something Tears for Fears related?) but who cares – it’s catchy, fun and full of warm synth goodness – and what a hook! Hailing from Russia, Xuman aka. Alexander runs his own label collective, Xuman Records. The label will be releasing Tales next year, a compilation of a variety of genre-bending Russan artists who all use the same recording studio and share a connected vision within their music. Quite the family. Acts include On-The-Go, Bajinda Behind The Enemy Lines, Mujuice. Go Russia!
I’m beyond obsessed with these images from Madonna’s spring campaign with Dolce & Gabbana that have just surfaced online taken from Italian Vanity Fair. She looks like an Italian housewife, an incredibly stunning one!
That terrible Versace ‘secretary shoot’ from a few years ago is a far distant memory now, first Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuttion gets it right last year, and now Dolce & Gabbana nail it with these new shots! Just fabulous!
I’m so excited to have my hands on a new electro-pop ground fronted by Elizabeth Harper aka Class Actress. Fans of Glass Candy, Fan Death, and anything that Italians Do It Better puts out will love this. She’s got a beautiful low-key voice and the band sure do love their slick bass against ethereal synths. I love the emotion in this song both vocally and lyrically.
But don’t let me sway you, the EP’s juxtaposed simple yet complex lyrics with feel good, driving in the summertime with the top down tracks throughout.
I’m also addicted to Let Me Take You Out, which you can view the video for below.
The upcoming EP release is called Journal of Ardency and it’s a must purchase, one of the most promising acts of the upcoming quarter. Every song is catchy pop perfection, grab Careful What You Say for free above. – Matt
I regretfully hadn’t given Philly based jam/fusion/electro band (they’ve been around since 1995…where have I been?) Disco Biscuits a shot until the On Time EP was released. Absolutely catchy, reminds me of those songs that radio used to play in the early 90′s – it’s got a Euro feel to it too. Half-way through, they break out the funk synths. Lovin’ it. Download the mp3 for free below. Fun dance track for a Friday night for sure! – Matt
Hard Candy sends our congratulations to ROISIN MURPHY who gave birth to a baby girl yesterday morning! The little girl’s name is Clodagh Henwood and she’ll surely be the most stylish celebrity kid ever!
To celebrate all things Roisin here are some of her non album tracks you may not have missed… – Camille
