So excited to share Sia‘s new video for You’ve Changed, the track she leaked on twitter last month. Her new album called We Are Born will be released in April! The new direction suits Sia well, a bit more up-beat and funky. She puts on a great live show, so i’m excited to see how the new songs will be performed. There is no-one like her – that’s for sure! – Matt

Here is Kylie performing Santa Baby on Top of the Pops, I wish Madonna had done they same so we could have a video face off! Instead you’ll just have to pick a favorite audio version Love, Camille x
If you have any sense at all and live in one of the five cities that Dan Black is visiting on his Spring 2010 U.S. tour, you’ll make it your business to get to a show! I’ll be going back for seconds in New York, after Dan blew me with his debut NYC performance at the High Rise PR event at Norwood during CMJ (Check the review here) I’m super excited to see him again in a venue bigger, and hopefully less sweaty than Norwood!
Dan’s incredible debut album un will get a U.S. release on The Hours label in Spring, it will feature new U.S. only tracks including a new version of Symphonies featuring Kid Cudi. (hotness!) If you aren’t familiar with Dan you should get acquainted I think you’ll be seeing a lot of him in 2010. A good starting point is our interview with him! – Camille

The Cocteau Twins are a favorite of mine when I’m in the mood for some ethereal synth laden tracks with Elizabeth Fraser‘s half-speaking/half-singing vocals soothing me along the journey. Half the time she isn’t even saying anything, just using her voice to create a melody. Goldfrapp is another whom, at times, exudes vocals of this style and has noted the ‘Twins as an influence. This track was written by Elizabeth in honor of her friend Jake Drake-Brockman (Echo and the Bunnymen, BOM, etc) that died this past September in a motorcycle accident. About 3 years ago, a good friend of mine was also killed in a motorcycle crash – this one’s for Jake and my friend Robin.
You can listen to the album version and two remixes below. The first by Thighpaulsandra (Julian Cope, Spiritualized, Coil) and the second by Andy Jenks (previously of Alpha and presently of The Flies, Spaceland.) I’m not getting a whole lot of a Cocteau vibe with this track (it’s slightly there) – lovin’ the french vibe.
If you’d like to brush up on your Cocteau, I would suggest checking out Stars and Topsoil, their greatest hits. – Matt
