Miami Horror are back with “Real Slow”

It’s hard to believe it’s been years since Miami Horror‘s debut album Illumination. Fast forward to 2013, and their new track “Real Slow” has us taken back to those sunny days at the beach. It feels like they’ve never left.

The production on “Real Slow” is ace, with glistening piano stabs and a thumping bass backed beat. Listen below.

A word from producer Benjamin Plant on the meaning of “Real Slow.”

“…It’s about finding that place or person were you feel secure enough to take things slowly. We wanted to write a song that is more than just a concept, we wanted to write about something we were actually experiencing rather than something imagined. We wanted to see how that emotion translated into our music. I’ve never been a huge fan of listening to songs about love, no matter how painful or joyous they are, they can seem mediocre, but once you have those experiences for yourself then suddenly, all those songs make sense and become something you can really feel.”

Their second album is set for release in Spring 2014.

Miami Horror DJs: Pink Grapefruit Mixtape

Miami Horror have just released their ‘Pink Grapefruit’ mix, as you might expect it’s a delightful mix of dance jams that will have you tapping your feet along to the rhythm while getting through the work day. All we need now is a new album, hurry up lads!

We set out to make a summer mixtape for all our Australian/Southern Hemisphere friends and ended up with this (and enough extra songs to make part 2!)

Like a doughnut, the Jam is in the middle!

Miami Horror: Holidays (Lenno & Jesse Oliver Remix)

I’m delighted with this new mix of Miami Horror’s Holidays provided by Lenno & Jesse Oliver, and I’m pretty sure that you’re gonna feel the same!

I’ve long been a fan of the track in original form, so thankfully this mix does the original justice! It provides an interesting spin with the addition of plenty of extra synths and significant increase in pace!

It’s inspired a revisit of Illumination which is one of my favorite albums in recent memory!

Lady Gaga vs Miami Horror: Telephone (Moon Theory Remix)

I’ve just stumbled across this splendid mashup of Lady Gaga‘s Telephone and Miami Horror‘s Moon Theory (Punks Jumps Up Remix) created by 19-year-old DJ Flipboitamidles.

He nicely blends the two tracks, and works in elements of A Dream Within a Dream by Glitch Mob and Martin Solveig‘s Hello. He has even made his own beats for the Beyonce section. This guy has some serious skills, give it up for him in the comments!

Miami Horror : Summersun (Cadillac Remix)

How is this for timing? Just as we’ve officially reached the end of Summer, along comes this delightful remix of Miami Horror‘s Summersun by Cadillac!

So while the timing may be a tad off for us moving into Fall, the great thing is that it’s such a brilliant mix it temporarily eases the pain! Close your eyes and drift away with this one (don’t let your boss catch you!)

Dan Hartman: Relight My Fire (Miami Horror Remix)

My Mom is going to love this one.

One of our favorite new acts, Miami Horror has given their best remix treatment to disco classic Relight My Fire by Dan Hartman.

It’s a dubby affair, keeping true to the original while kicking up the electronics and drums a knotch – a perfect 2011 version of the track.

I hope more current remixers work their sound into the classics, this is great! - Matt

P.S. - Listen to the original extended, love it!

Miami Horror: Dec 2010 – Jan 2011 Mix, I Look To You (Wildlife Remix) + U.S Tour Dates

Yesterday we brought you the Miami Horror remix of Empire Ants by the Gorillaz, and in my quest for more Miami Horror goodies I have stumbled across rather a lot! Firstly, they have put together this sexy little mix tape, that has feeling like I should be pulling on my afro wig and getting pumped up ready to hit Studio 54 tonight!

One of my favorite tracks from the mix tape is the sensational Wildlife remix of I Look To You, I can’t get enough of the beat and that sultry vocal continues to slay me!

More good news in the form of a tour! I’ve been waiting for a long time to see these guys play live, and I’ll finally get the chance when they hit the U.S this Spring for a four week stint and swing by the Mercury Lounge in NYC on March 29th (‘Read More’ to get all the tour dates) Who am I seeing there rocking their disco flares? - Camille

Gorillaz: Empire Ants (Miami Horror Mix)

There is little I like more then finding a new Miami Horror mix, these guys always hit the mark, be it with their own productions or remixes! This time Empire Ants by Gorillaz has been given a complete rework by the talented Aussies and with wonderful results! The smooth, floaty original has been injected with a little danceability. I can really get behind this tune that has provided a nice pick me up on this dreary afternoon here in New York!

You should also check out a rather cool Empire Ants performance from Letterman a few months ago.

Miami Horror: Holidays (Cassian and Miami Horror Remix)

There’s nothing better than finding more and more Music Sounds Better With You production/sampling when discovering new mixes. Can’t get enough of that sound!

The highly overlooked album Illumination from Miami Horror was one of my favorites of 2010, and the Cassian remix of their single Holidays dropped just a bit before the year ended.

The tropical, breezy track features Alan Palomo on vocals. I love it, makes me wish it were summer here in NYC. - Matt
