Last year, at this time our excitement was at a fever pitch as we waited with bated breath for Madonna’s performance at the Super Bowl Half Time show. This year, we eagerly anticipate Beyonce‘s performance at tomorrow’s Super Bowl, I think she’s gonna do a tremendous job.
While we wait to see what she’s got up her sleeve, it’s time for us to take a look back at some of the best performances at the Super Bowl Halftime show over the years…..
Australian producer Late Nite Tuff Guy has inspired a revisit of the classic Prince album Controversy, with his outstanding rework of the title track. It takes a real talent to handle a classic with such finesse and bring something fresh to an already flawless track. Continue reading →
Prince resurfaces with a re-recorded version of funky track Extraloveable, which originally appeared on The Bootleg Collection Vol.1. You can hear a direct influence in Prince’s music style through many new artist we share with you on this site. It’s classic Prince on this one, although we could have done with a rap-less version!
Listen to the original version below, which do you like best?
The Ghosts of Venice remix of Head by Prince is one of the tracks included the Justin FaustBrisket Biscuit Mixtape that we posted last week, and it’s so good we had to give it a separate post.
It takes a really brave remixer to take on such a classic, but Lee’s proved himself worthy of such a task with this excellent mix! The original is taken from Prince‘s phenomenal Dirty Mindalbum which I’ve been revisiting all this weekend.
Well I’m just about doing cartwheels around my room tonight! Today at a press conference at the Apollo Theatre Prince has announced a series of concerts starting in December! The events entitled Welcome to America will showcase some of his favorite artists including Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae (!), Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson, Lalah Hathaway and Sheila E. I’m dying over the inclusion of Janelle who he says is one of his favorite new artists!
I had the pleasure of seeing Prince live in London back in 2007 (before the birth of Hard Candy) and it was so good I ended up seeing the show three times! there is nothing like the experience of seeing Prince rock out on the guitar from just a few rows away. I’ve seen some damn good shows and Prince puts on one of the very best.
Enjoy Bambi one of my favorite Prince tracks taken from Prince (1979)
Here is a cool performance by Prince of his track Baby Knows from his Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic album. This song is actually a duet with Sheryl Crow, but in this performance Prince is going solo, just with his band. Hope you enjoy this sorta Flashback Video all in B&W and Live! I think it’s pretty cool!
It appears as though 2009 is gonna be a great year for Prince. Everywhere I turn I hear something about Prince lately which I love cause definitely have much love for him! Here’s some stuff that’s going on!
On Howard Stern one day heard about a Prince concert that Howard attended in a small venue in which Prince performed with the lights off (weird!) Hope if he tours he leaves the light on because I have seen Prince when he released the 0(+>(The Love Symbol Album) and he was amazing!
We also saw Prince randomly show up on stage at a Q-Tip show performed late in 2008! You can check that out by Clicking Here!
There were also recently 4 leaks of new tracks by Prince (which I missed! Ahhh!) Including a cover of the Radiohead track Creep!
In 2009 Prince is scheduled to release not 1, not 2, but 3 albums! Can’t wait for these! One is said to be titled “MPLSOUND“
And last now we have a new website from Prince called www.lotusflow3r.com where you can hear some of his new recordings titled Crimson and Clover, Here Eye Come and (There’ll Never B) Another Like Me!
Not even Q-Tip expected Prince to jump on stage while he was performing during his show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.
Here is an excerpt from Prefix, who have the full story…
According to DJ Scratch, who’s on tour with Q-Tip, no one had any idea this would happen. “Yo, while me and Q-Tip were performing “Vivrant Thing” in Vegas last night…this nigga Prince walked out on the stage, took the guitar from our guitar player and just started rocking!”
Here is the performance, let us know what you think in the comments…or use the star ratings!
