SCISSOR SISTERS: Newsflash! Adam Lambert Makes Out With Jake Shears

SCISSOR SISTERS: Newsflash! Adam Lambert Makes Out With Jake Shears

I simply adore the Scissor Sisters! Watch this hilarious Scissor Sisters news broadcast featuring Adam Lambert making out with Jake Shears while Katy Perry looks on, haha! I love how in these videos someone really random always pops up. Last time it was Jane Fonda and this time its Judith Light aka Mrs Mead from Ugly Betty. Dying!

KYLIE MINOGUE: Change Your Mind

Kylie Minogue2.jpg2 KYLIE MINOGUE: Change Your Mind

The one thing you’ve gotta know about Kylie Minogue, is that when an unreleased track, demo or b-side leaks…you can pretty well be sure it’s gonna be hot! Fans totally know which ones i’m talking about (leave them in the comments!).

Change Your Mind is said to have been penned by Jake Shears (Scissors Sisters) and produced by Deadmau5.  From what i’ve heard (still half way through typing furiously to get this to you guys!) it sounds like standard ‘mouse fare. Nothing too stand out but lovin’ it anyway! With a bit of work it could be hot. - Matt

SCISSOR SISTERS: Live At Terminal 5

Last night as was to be expected, craziness ensued at the Scissor Sisters show at Terminal 5. After their latest album Night Work blew me away upon its release, as soon as the show was announced I knew I wanted to be at what was sure to be one hell of a dance party!  The band took the stage a little late but DJ Sammy Jo kept us entertained with some rocking music (Note: they played Kylie and I danced in the photo pit, neglecting to do the whole “I’m here to snap  a few shots and go home” professional bit -- I was there to party!) The celebrities were out in force last night with Katy Perry, Adam Lambert and Susan Saradon (amazing!) all in attendance.

Plenty of tracks from the disco inspired Night Work were mixed in next to old favorites like Take Your Mama, Filthy Gorgeous and I Don’t Feel Like Dancin. The show, like the latest album, was an homage to late 70′s/80′s disco, and their wonderfully choreographed routines at times had me picturing them as part of old workout videos by the likes of Jane Fonda!  For some numbers like the sultry Skin This Cat, seedy lighting mixed with sexy dancing to create a down and dirty atmosphere which the crowd ate up, others were camped up to the max!

I noticed that as much as the boys adore the sexy Mr. Jake Shears, they also love the effervescent Ana Matronic! She is quite frankly hilarious and her monologues were amazing. In one part she was talking about making love to buildings, then the next the woes of New York bars having to have  cabaret licenses, “When I walked into The Cock (a NYC bar) one night at 12 there was a sign saying no dancing!” she exclaimed, much to the delight of the crowd, most of whom were all too familiar with that downtown joint.

It was my first time seeing the Scissors Sisters live and I am now very eager to see them do their stuff again. It was a brilliant show from a band of super charismatic musicians that kept us dancing all night long! Go check them out if they come to your city!

SCISSOR SISTERS: Any Which Way (Video Premiere)

SCISSOR SISTERS: Any Which Way (Video Premiere)
Although it’s hard to chose, I would have to say that Any Which Way is my favorite cut from the impeccable Night Work album. The new video just premiered at the Scissor Sisters website, and given the lyrical content it’s a pretty tame video… just think what we could have seen ‘Take me in front of my parents“… the mind reels! Instead the video is comprised of colorful slow motion scenes of the band busting stuff up, women in hilarious neon bodysuits and shirtless men dancing around wearing animal heads.

ps I love the part where Jake boogies naked covered by just an alarm clock.. intriguing stuff huh? Watch below….

KYLIE MINOGUE & SCISSOR SISTERS: All The Lovers + Any Which Way (Live In Melbourne)

Isn’t that picture the cutest ever? haha. A few nights ago  the Scissor Sisters played a show in Melbourne and Kylie joined them on stage for Any Which Way, as she did at Glastonbury, and also for an encore for country style version of All The Lovers. I can’t get enough of this pairing -- it really is a match made in heaven! I’m very pleased to see that these live collaborations are a recurring event… and yes I’m crossing my fingers and toes that Ms.Minogue makes an appearance at the Scissor Sisters show here in NYC next month! Wouldn’t that be a dream New Yorkers?

SCISSOR SISTERS: Invisible Light (Boys Noize Remix)

We got our first taste of this stellar mix of the Scissor Sisters Invisible Light done by Boys Noize when Annie Mac played it on her Radio One show several weeks back. Shortly after its premiere, a radio rip surfaced and we’ve been hankering for the high quality version for weeks (we hate sharing rips as you may have noticed they are a rarity around here) Now this morning I wake up to find a treat in my inbox, it has now finally surfaced!

The original is such an incredible track from the Scissor Sisters and it made me very eager to hear Night Work. Until this release I had only been a casual fan of Jake and the crew, but they made me stand up and pay attention with this immaculate and varied collection of down and dirty 70′s/80′s inspired tracks . This is an amazing mix that protects the integrity of the original, and Boys Noize as usual bring the heat. Enjoy!

As you all may know one of my favorite producer/remixers is Stuart Price aka. a million other monikers. Price is married to Angela Becker, yes that Angela! After her gig with Madonna ended she moved on to manage the Pet Shop Boys. Interesting right?

Meanwhile, i’ve got his remix of Invisible Light which he also produced the album version of for the Scissor Sisters.  I never paid too much attention to them, but upcoming album Night Work is shaping up to sound pretty hot.

I love the Thriller vibe of Invisible Light, especially with Sir Ian McKellen talking his way into oblivion. Anyone else hear a bit of Cut Copy in this track? Enjoy! - Matt

SCISSOR SISTERS: ‘Invisible Light’ + new album ‘Night Work’

cover 10 4 468x468 SCISSOR SISTERS: Invisible Light + new album Night Work

The Scissor Sisters are returning to the scene with their new album (butt-cheek cover pictured above) Night Work. The first single to be released is the Stuart Price produced Invisible Light, which starts out with a Thriller-esqe bassline and erupts into a dance frenzy.

After listening to the new track, you may say to yourself, ‘boy that Thriller-esque (how many times have I said that now?) spoken word part sounds familiar.’ No wonder, it’s Sir Ian McKellen! How funny is that?
