Must See Acts at CMJ 2012

NYC hang on tight, CMJ is upon us once again! I’ll be heading to various showcases over the next 5 days to catch some of the best new and upcoming acts currently on the scene. In preparation, I’ve put together this Spotify playlist of some of the best acts that I’ll be checking out over the next few days.

I’ll be at the Neon Gold party for the U.S. debut of Queen of Hearts at Santos tonight,  Brooklyn Bowl tomorrow to catch the brilliant Goldroom spin, and the Bowery Ballroom for mysterious duo Ms MrSky Ferreira, and MDNR on Thursday. Our faves Labyrinth Ear are over from London so I’ll definitely be fitting in one of their shows (dates here)  Most of the showcases are open to the public so if you’re in NYC swing by! Check the full schedule here.

Make sure you’re following us on Facebook and Twitter so you can keep up to date with all the festivities!

Sky Ferreira: Red Lips (Video Premiere)

A few months back we got our first listen to Sky Ferreira‘s Red Lips, and today the super hot Terry Richardson directed video has just premiered! The track was produced by Greg Kurstin and co-written by Sky and Shirley Manson which comes as no surprise as it sounds like a classic Garbage song

Could this be the track that finally gets Sky the recognition she deserves? How do you feel about her going in this musical direction? I think the sound really works for her!

Sky Ferreira shares ‘Lost In My Bedroom’ demo

There’s something about Sky Ferreira that pulls us in every time. It may be her striking fashion sense, her love of electronic-pop music or her drop-dead gorgeous photo shoots. Whatever the cause, we’re ready for her to release a debut album and show the world what she’s got.

Sky just released a ‘not finished yet’ new wave tinged track Lost In My Bedroom, along with a dreamy new photo shoot called High School Lover, taken by Dana Boulos. Listen below…

Check out Sky’s catalog on iTunes, she’s still yet to release a debut album but all singles so far have been fanastic – my favorite being 99 Tears and One.

What do you think of Lost In My Bedroom? Are you ready for the final take?
